editor 17 November 2017

By Itamar Eichner.. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu faced a lengthy barrage of attacks from the Left and Center during a special Knesset session on Monday (November 13, 2017), and when it was over, he went up to answer them. Why End Times? (71) – Chapter 7 – Jerusalem

editor 16 November 2017

By Rev Willem J.J. Glashouwer.. From the book Why End Times? Chapter 7 – Jerusalem

Melchizedek
Let us return to the historic and spiritual roots of Jerusalem. This mountain/hill was known to be a special place, even before Abraham. A king-priest served the One and Only God at this place. It     is here where the meeting took place between this king-priest Melchizedek (whose name means ‘king of righteousness’) and Abraham. In Genesis 14:18-20 we read: “…Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. He was priest of God Most High, and he blessed Abram, saying, ‘Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth. And blessed be God Most High, who delivered your enemies into your hand.’ Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything.” [Photo top right: Melchizedek blesses Abraham. Tzippy and the Iceberg

editor 16 November 2017

By Caroline Glick.. Princeton University Hillel’s last minute decision on Monday (November 13, 2017) to cancel Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipy Hotovely’s scheduled address was the tip of a very dangerous iceberg. The iceberg itself was revealed the next day (November 14, 2017) on Capitol Hill. On Tuesday the House Judiciary Committee held a hearing on the Antisemitism Awareness Act of 2016. The bill is intended to facilitate the fight against antisemitism on campuses by requiring university authorities to refer to the State Department’s definition of antisemitism when they consider whether harassing acts were “motivated by antisemitic intent.” Nine witnesses appeared before the committee. Five supported the legislation. Four opposed it. (more…)

Hopes betrayed: the Russian Revolution and the Jews

editor 16 November 2017

By Ben Cohen.. Another week, another centennial. Following the Balfour Declaration’s milestone, it’s now time to look back on the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution in Russia, where a communist insurrection in St. Petersburg, then known as Petrograd, gave birth to a state that caused untold misery to millions for almost the remainder of the 20th century…writes Ben Cohen/JNS.org. Why End Times? (70) – Chapter 7 – Jerusalem

editor 14 November 2017

By Rev Willem J.J. Glashouwer.. From the book Why End Times? Chapter 7 – Jerusalem – Introduction

What is so special about the city of Jerusalem? What are the roots of this city, historically and spiritually? What role will the city play in the prophetic future – if at all? To answer these questions we have to go back, to the days of Abraham. He was the Father of the Jewish race, through his son Isaac, borne by his wife Sarah. He was the founding father of the people of Israel as well as of the Arab nations. This through Ishmael, the son he had with his Egyptian slave Hagar. Let’s start our search by consulting some Christian and Jewish sources on Jerusalem.  [Photo top right: Tower of David seen from the Jaffa Gate]. (more…)

Israel: UNESCO Is the “Titanic of International Organizations”

editor 13 November 2017

By Amb. Carmel Shama Hacohen (UNESCO).. Israel’s ambassador to UNESCO Carmel Shama-Hacohen told the agency’s 39th General Conference in Paris on Friday (November 3, 2017):
I would like to thank U.S. President Trump and our American allies for their courageous and just decision to leave UNESCO and for their continuous support of Israel. This new and shiny hall is highly deceptive in leading one to think that something good transpires between the walls of UNESCO, while this organization reaches a new low on every session in every respect.
