How Palestinian Education and UNRWA Incitement Lead to Innocent Deaths

editor 1 June 2018

By Emily Benedek.. Teachers work hard to find real-life examples to help pique the interests of their skeptical students. Teachers in UNRWA schools face the same challenge. But to teach science to Palestinian students in Gaza, the West Bank, and parts of East Jerusalem, these teachers rely on textbooks that promote a program of incitement and violence against Jews.

France’s Jewish Ex-Culture Minister to Head UNESCO, Agency Tainted by Anti-Israel Bias

editor 21 November 2017

By TheTower.org Staff.. Audrey Azoulay, France’s former culture minister, was confirmed as the new director-general of the United Nations cultural body UNESCO, making her the first Jewish head of the agency, The Jerusalem Post reported. Azoulay was raised in Morocco and France and is the daughter of André Azoulay, an adviser to Morocco’s King Mohammed VI. She secured the nomination for head of UNESCO during a tight race in October, defeating Qatari diplomat Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al-Kawari, known for his anti-Semitic record. The choice was confirmed Friday by the General Conference who voted 131-19 to appoint her. (more…)

Israel: UNESCO Is the “Titanic of International Organizations”

editor 13 November 2017

By Amb. Carmel Shama Hacohen (UNESCO).. Israel’s ambassador to UNESCO Carmel Shama-Hacohen told the agency’s 39th General Conference in Paris on Friday (November 3, 2017):
I would like to thank U.S. President Trump and our American allies for their courageous and just decision to leave UNESCO and for their continuous support of Israel. This new and shiny hall is highly deceptive in leading one to think that something good transpires between the walls of UNESCO, while this organization reaches a new low on every session in every respect. When nothing is sacred, UNESCO ruling comes as no surprise

editor 21 August 2017

By Shlomo Puterkovsky.. Op-ed: The Arab-Palestinian side knows how to sanctify the things it deems important, while the Jewish-Israeli side’s actions convey the message to the Palestinians and to the entire world that nothing is actually sacred to us. The decision made by the Heritage Committee of the United Nations’ Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on Friday (July 7, 2017) to declare the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron a Palestinian World Heritage Site sparked reactions ranging from fury to laughter in Israel, and rightfully so. The Jewish connection to the Cave of the Patriarchs is thousands of years old and began many years before Islam was born. PM Netanyahu Dons Yarmulke to Quote Genesis for UNESCO’s Benefit

editor 15 August 2017

By JNI Media.. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday (July 9, 2017) morning wore a yarmulke to quote the Book of Genesis at the start of the weekly Cabinet meeting. “I would like to read from Genesis 23:16-19,” the PM began: “‘And Abraham hearkened unto Ephron; and Abraham weighed to Ephron the silver, which he had named in the hearing of the children of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, current money with the merchant… And after this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of Machpelah before Mamre–the same is Hebron–in the land of Canaan. And the field, and the cave that is therein, were made sure unto Abraham for a possession of a burying-place by the children of Heth.’” [Photo top right: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reading from Genesis (Photo: Screenshot)](more…)

UNESCO is opening a new front in the war against religious diversity in the Middle East

editor 27 July 2017

By Jonathan Rabinovitch.. The World Heritage Committee of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) passed a motion on July 7, 2017 declaring the Old City of Hebron to a Palestinian World Heritage Site in Danger. This new narrative, now enshrined by UNESCO, is both historically inaccurate and contrary to lived reality. And yet these facts and the dangerous implications of such a move seem to elude the member bodies of the committee. [Photo top right: Unesco logo from Wikipedia Commons](more…)

Laughing at UNESCO

editor 17 July 2017

By Paula R. Stern.. UNESCO is fast becoming the cheapest and most readily available subject for jokes. Anger fast becomes hysterics as you realize the absurdity of their latest claims. Bibi Netanyahu calls them “delusional.” That’s pretty much a compliment. One thing I love about the Jewish people is that when the going gets tough, rather than break, we either are driven to tears or to laughter. Happily, this time, we choose laughter. A few samples: (more…)

Trump said bidding to defeat new anti-Israel UNESCO resolution

editor 27 April 2017

By Times of Israel Staff..The Trump administration has reportedly ordered US ambassadors in UNESCO member states to initiate meetings with their host countries’ foreign ministries in a bid to defeat an anti-Israel resolution that is to be debated at the UN cultural organization next week. The passage last October by 23 votes to 6 of a UNESCO resolution sponsored by Arab states that ignored Jewish and Christian historical ties to Jerusalem holy sites sparked an outcry in Israel, and was castigated by then-presidential candidate Donald Trump. Europe’s Compassionate Hatred of Israel

editor 15 February 2017

By Bat Ye’or.. The Jerusalem Declaration of UNESCO seeks to Islamize, with the help of many governments in Europe and other Christian countries, the ancient history of the people of Israel. But what does this declaration mean for Europe and Christianity? Wasn’t Christianity born out of Israel? Wasn’t Jesus a Judean Jew, as were the apostles and evangelists? Or was it Islam that Jesus was preaching, in Arabic and in the mosques? (more…)
