Inconvenient Truths About Gaza, Hamas and Israel’s Border

editor 23 May 2018

By SWC.. Why is there a border fence between Israel and Gaza?
Israel captured Gaza from the Egyptians during the 1967 Six-Day War. For decades, there were no border fences. Many Israelis shopped in Gaza and many Arabs worked in Israel proper. In 2005, then Israeli Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon, unilaterally removed all military posts, as well as the thousands of Jews who had settled in the Gaza Strip, and gave Palestinians full control of the territory. [Photo top right: Why? | Credit: Wikimedia Commons].  (more…)

What Miracle Can Be Greater?

editor 15 May 2018

By Marvin Hier.. Fortunate are we and our children and grandchildren that we live at a time in history where with our own eyes we have seen the fulfilment of this great miracle. I remember in my Yeshiva days reading about the great 18th Century scholar, Rabbi Yaakov Emden’s commentary that the continued existence of the Jewish people is a miracle as great or even greater than G-d’s splitting of the Red Sea. Miracles greater than at the time of the Exodus? No way. editor 2 June 2017

By SWC.. United Nations Secretary-General Guterres met with senior officials of the Simon Wiesenthal Center at his offices at UN headquarters in New York. The discussion covered a wide range of issues including efforts to make terrorism a crime against humanity, the UN’s role in countering burgeoning anti-Semitism in Europe, ending the demonizing and abuse of Israel in and by UN agencies, including UNRWA, UNESCO, and the UN Human Rights Council, and stumbling blocks hampering Middle East peace prospects. Wiesenthal Centre to British Labour Party Shadow Home Secretary: “Adopt the EU Working Definition of Antisemitism.”

editor 22 July 2016

By Simon Wiesenthal Centre-Europe.. “The antisemitic disease afflicting your Party warrants diagnosis, prognosis, treatment – even surgery – and eventual prophylaxis… not satisfaction in the vapid self-serving exercise of a so-called ‘investigation into antisemitism in Labour’.” “Without more serious further measures, Labour will be rendered ‘Judenrein’ (purged of Jews) – the first such party ever, since Britain’s victory over Nazism.” (more…)

Why Efraim Zuroff is the most hated Jew in Lithuania

editor 21 July 2016

By Stav Ziv.. Efraim Zuroff (Simon Wiesenthal Center) has accomplished much in his long career, but there’s one thing he’s particularly proud of: He’s the most hated Jew in Lithuania. His Lithuanian friend Ruta Vanagaite agrees: She called him a “mammoth,” a “boogeyman” and the “ruiner of reputations”—and that’s just in the introduction to a book they co-authored. Europe declares war on terrorism* (*Offer not valid in Israel)

editor 25 June 2016

By Rabbi Abraham Cooper (SWC).. Earlier this week, my Paris-based colleague, Dr. Shimon Samuels and I met with senior officials in Berlin that focused on the implications of 1 million Middle Eastern migrant/refugees coming to Germany. Social integration and the challenge of changing the problematic attitudes brought from their cultures about women, gays, and Jews was the focus of much our conversations. And there are new developments from the burgeoning threats of terrorism. Despite their best efforts, it is clear that Germans and other European countries cannot validate the true identity of hundreds of thousands of new arrivals. European Anti-Semitism 72 Years After D-Day

editor 9 June 2016

By Rabbi Marvin Hier of SWC.. Seventy-two years ago – D-Day – a band of civilized men, farmhands, ordinary laborers, schoolteachers and students crossed an ocean to be part of a noble cause, to save the world from tyranny. It’s easy to forget those boys who died on the beaches of Normandy to save our freedom. Boys we never knew, just ordinary Joes who left behind families, who wanted to marry and have children, but who had their dreams cut off forever so that their countrymen could continue to live as free men and women. What began with the Jews has crossed a new threshold for Europe

editor 19 November 2015

By Shimon Samuels, SWC International Relations.. Anti-Semitism, anti-Zionism, anti-Israelism in Europe only serve the mutual enemies of both Israel and Europe. The Charlie Hebdo/Jewish supermarket attacks of January 2015 followed years of anti-Semitic terrorism in Europe and Israel which have now led over the edge of the abyss into general mayhem. SWC to UNESCO Director General: “Turning over the Western Wall to the Palestinians would be like turning over Mount Sinai to ISIS.”

editor 20 October 2015

By SWC.. Historic Muslim Jerusalem Publication Sent to UNESCO by SWC at the Request of Director General

October 20, 2015

Amidst the unprecedented violence in Israel and the international uproar over Arab attempts to have UNESCO identify Jerusalem’s Western Wall – Judaism’s holiest site – as Palestinian, senior officials of the Simon Wiesenthal Center had a conference call with UNESCO’s Director General Irina Bokova earlier today where Rabbis Marvin Hier and Abraham Cooper, Dean and Founder and Associate Dean reiterated that:  (more…)
