US Ambassador Blesses Israel at Mass Priestly Blessing

The biannual priestly blessing took place on Monday morning (April 2, 2018) at the Kotel (the Western Wall) in Jerusalem. Tens of thousands of people gathered to receive the Biblically mandated blessing from hundreds of Kohanim (Jewish men descended from Aaron the Priest), one of whom was the US Ambassador to Israel. Thousands attend priestly blessing at Western Wall

The custom sees hundreds of Cohens (priests), descended from the biblical figure of Aaron and the Israelite tribe of Levi, raise their hands within their prayer shawls and bless the masses. Thousands of people flocked to the Western Wall in Jerusalem’s Old City Monday (April 17, 2017) for the traditional Birkat Kohanim ceremony, the priestly blessing, held annually on the intermediate days of  Passover and Succot.
