Israel: Covenants & Kingdom (26) – Chapter 4 – God’s Love and Covenants with Israel

editor 17 May 2018

By Rev Willem J.J. Glashouwer.. From the book “Israel: Covenants & Kingdom”

Everlasting Covenants
The Covenants are to be taken literally as contracts between two parties. These Covenants are eternal, everlasting agreements with Israel that will therefore exist ‘forever’. God cannot change His mind halfway about them. All these Covenants are covered by a solemn oath, which the Lord Almighty swore by His own Name at the making of these Covenants with Israel. Israel: Covenants & Kingdom (25) – Chapter 4 – God’s Love and Covenants with Israel

editor 15 May 2018

By Rev Willem J.J. Glashouwer.. From the book “Israel: Covenants & Kingdom”

Confirmation of the Abrahamic Covenant with Jacob
Genesis 28:3-4, 13-15: “…’May God Almighty bless you (Isaac says to Jacob) and make you fruitful and increase your numbers until you become a community of peoples. May He give you and your descendants the blessing given to Abraham, so that you may take possession of the land where you now live as an alien, the land God gave to Abraham.’…There above it [the stairway that Jacob saw in his dream at Bethel] stood the LORD, and He said: ‘I am the LORD, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac. Israel: Covenants & Kingdom (24) – Chapter 4 – God’s Love and Covenants with Israel

editor 10 May 2018

By Rev Willem J.J. Glashouwer.. From the book “Israel: Covenants & Kingdom”

The calling of Abraham
It all started with the calling of Abraham in Genesis 12:1-3: “…The LORD had said to Abram, ‘…Leave your country, your people and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you. I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through [or: in] you’…” [Photo top right: Abraham’s Journey from Ur to Canaan by Josef Molnar | Credit: Wikimedia Commons].  (more…)

SILENCE… before the storm by Rev Willem J.J. Glashouwer

editor 5 June 2014

By Rev Willem J.J. Glashouwer.. “When he opened the seventh seal, there was SILENCE in heaven for about half an hour. And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and seven trumpets were given to them.”- Revelation 8:1-2.

The seventh seal of the scroll is broken. The scroll that – as a guardian-redeemer’s deed – contains the right of the lawful owner of heaven and earth. The lawful owner is the Creator of heaven and earth. (more…)

International Harmony Under the Messiah According Isaiah 2:1-4 (Part 1)

editor 25 December 2013

By Dr. Micheal J. Vlach.. I would like to offer a two-part entry on Isa 2:1-4, a passage that describes international peace among nations under the rule of Messiah in His kingdom. These conditions are not taking place in our present age but will when Jesus returns and sets up His kingdom.

Isaiah 2 addresses the coming kingdom and the roles of Israel and the nations in it. The message predicts international harmony among nations as a result of the Messiah’s reign. (more…)

The Coming Kingdom (5-10)

editor 29 November 2012

By Dr. Andy Woods.. Because today’s evangelical world largely believes that the church is presently experiencing the messianic kingdom, we began a study chronicling what the Bible teaches concerning this important issue of the kingdom. That there will be a future, messianic kingdom on earth has been revealed thus far through the divine intention to restore the office of Theocratic Administrator (Gen. 1:26-28) that was lost in Eden (Gen. 3). Likewise, the promise of a future, earthly, messianic reign was prophesied in the Abrahamic Covenant (Gen. 15) and related sub-covenants. (more…)

Focus on the future (6-12)

Rev. Willem Glashouwer 3 October 2012

What will happen in your life? What will happen on planet earth? There is one book that speaks very clearly about all of this and that book is the Bible. The greatest prophet that has ever been is Jesus Christ. And He speaks about that future. There is a beautiful chapter in the New Testament, Matthew 24, where He sums up all the things that will happen to planet earth, before He comes in glory! He is speaking of wars and rumours of wars, martyrdom, earthquakes, famine and lawlessness. He’s speaking of a dark period that will come over the planet that has never been there and after that never will be there again. But He has positive signs as well. (more…)

Focus on the future (5-12)

Rev. Willem Glashouwer 26 September 2012

What will the future hold? The future of the world, the future of the nations. Only God can tell, and he has revealed what will happen in the Bible, through the prophets of Israel. There are many unfulfilled prophecies. We have been talking about the wars coming to the Middle East, about the destruction of Damascus, being the capital of Syria. We hear about an attack on Egypt. We read about a first ring around Israel, that suddenly will attack, in Psalm 83. We have talked about Ezekiel 38 and 39, when Russia and other nations, like a big ring around Israel, will suddenly attack Israel. (more…)

Focus on the future (3-12)

Rev. Willem Glashouwer 12 September 2012

What will the future bring to me personally and to planet Earth? Today we hear a lot about climate change. Earth is heating up, so the scientists say. The ice at the north and south poles is melting and the sea level is rising, slowly but steadily. The average temperature is rising. Does the Bible talk about these phenomena?

In the book of Revelation, in Rev 16, it says the following. The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun and the sun was given power to scorch the people with fire. (more…)

The Quarry

Rev. Willem Glashouwer 15 August 2012

I recently paid a visit to Mauthausen in Austria, the former concentration camp. A granite quarry is a stone’s throw away.  Simon Wiesenthal who survived and became a world-famous Nazi-hunter after the war was one of its most famous prisoners, and one of the few who survived. However, let’s first listen to some general information from Wikipedia: (more…)
