Israel: Covenants & Kingdom (55) – Chapter 7 – Kingdom and Covenants

editor 11 October 2018

By Rev Willem J.J. Glashouwer.. From the book “Israel: Covenants & Kingdom”

Destruction and rebuilding
David prepared – Solomon built – Nebuchadnezzar destroyed (2 Chronicles 36:19). After the Babylonian captivity, a second Temple was built by Zerubbabel (1 Chronicles 3:19; Ezra 2:2, 3:2, 8, 4:2-3). Little is known about this Temple, other than that it was built by de- cree: “…This is what Cyrus king of Persia says: ‘The LORD, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth, and He has appointed me to build a Temple for Him at Jerusalem in Judah’…” (Ezra 1:2). Zerubbabel appears in the genealogy of the Lord Jesus (Matthew 1:12), and is mentioned by the prophets Haggai and Zechariah after the Babylonian exile (Haggai 1:1-2, 12-14; Zechariah 4:6-10). Israel: Covenants & Kingdom (54) – Chapter 7 – Kingdom and Covenants

editor 4 October 2018

By Rev Willem J.J. Glashouwer.. From the book “Israel: Covenants & Kingdom”

The Ark of the Covenant and the Tabernacle
Initially, the presence of God was strongly associated with the Ark of the Covenant (Exodus 25:10-22). This chest contained the two stone tablets with the Ten Commandments written by the Lord Himself (Exodus 31:18 and 34:1, 27-28), a jar of manna (Hebrews 9:4; Exodus 16:33-34; 1 Kings 8:9), and Aaron’s rod that budded (Numbers 17:8-10). On top of the Ark was a mercy seat of pure gold with two cherubim, figures of angels, also of pure gold. The faces of the cherubim were turned toward the mercy seat where the high priest sprinkled the blood of sacrifices. [Photo top right: The Ark of the Covenant had an atonement cover (or ‘mercy seat’) on top of it. It was made of acacia wood, overlaid with pure gold inside and out. On top of the cover stood two cherubim (angels) at the two ends, facing each other. Their outstretched wings covered the atonement cover. Exodus 25-40 Contributed by Rev. Yves Langevin].  (more…)

Israel: Covenants & Kingdom (53) – Chapter 7 – Kingdom and Covenants

editor 27 September 2018

By Rev Willem J.J. Glashouwer.. From the book “Israel: Covenants & Kingdom”

The beginning of redemption
This book is not intended to be a treatise on politics or history, but when one looks at the situation of the Jewish state of Israel, those factors are important from a Biblical perspective. Israel has been in existence for almost seventy years, and Jerusalem re-united for nearly half a century. The miracle of the mere existence of Israel continues even in its recent history, despite the apparent impossibility of it. The Lord said, “…To you I will give the land of Canaan,   as the portion you will inherit…” Israel is on the way to her rest, but before that can become a reality many things will happen, and most of them will be unpleasant. Israel: Covenants & Kingdom (26) – Chapter 4 – God’s Love and Covenants with Israel

editor 17 May 2018

By Rev Willem J.J. Glashouwer.. From the book “Israel: Covenants & Kingdom”

Everlasting Covenants
The Covenants are to be taken literally as contracts between two parties. These Covenants are eternal, everlasting agreements with Israel that will therefore exist ‘forever’. God cannot change His mind halfway about them. All these Covenants are covered by a solemn oath, which the Lord Almighty swore by His own Name at the making of these Covenants with Israel. SILENCE… before the storm by Rev Willem J.J. Glashouwer

editor 5 June 2014

By Rev Willem J.J. Glashouwer.. “When he opened the seventh seal, there was SILENCE in heaven for about half an hour. And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and seven trumpets were given to them.”- Revelation 8:1-2.

The seventh seal of the scroll is broken. The scroll that – as a guardian-redeemer’s deed – contains the right of the lawful owner of heaven and earth. The lawful owner is the Creator of heaven and earth. (more…)

International Harmony Under the Messiah According Isaiah 2:1-4 (Part 1)

editor 25 December 2013

By Dr. Micheal J. Vlach.. I would like to offer a two-part entry on Isa 2:1-4, a passage that describes international peace among nations under the rule of Messiah in His kingdom. These conditions are not taking place in our present age but will when Jesus returns and sets up His kingdom.

Isaiah 2 addresses the coming kingdom and the roles of Israel and the nations in it. The message predicts international harmony among nations as a result of the Messiah’s reign. (more…)

The Coming Kingdom (5-10)

editor 29 November 2012

By Dr. Andy Woods.. Because today’s evangelical world largely believes that the church is presently experiencing the messianic kingdom, we began a study chronicling what the Bible teaches concerning this important issue of the kingdom. That there will be a future, messianic kingdom on earth has been revealed thus far through the divine intention to restore the office of Theocratic Administrator (Gen. 1:26-28) that was lost in Eden (Gen. 3). Likewise, the promise of a future, earthly, messianic reign was prophesied in the Abrahamic Covenant (Gen. 15) and related sub-covenants. (more…)

Focus on the future (6-12)

Rev. Willem Glashouwer 3 October 2012

What will happen in your life? What will happen on planet earth? There is one book that speaks very clearly about all of this and that book is the Bible. The greatest prophet that has ever been is Jesus Christ. And He speaks about that future. There is a beautiful chapter in the New Testament, Matthew 24, where He sums up all the things that will happen to planet earth, before He comes in glory! He is speaking of wars and rumours of wars, martyrdom, earthquakes, famine and lawlessness. He’s speaking of a dark period that will come over the planet that has never been there and after that never will be there again. But He has positive signs as well. (more…)

Focus on the future (5-12)

Rev. Willem Glashouwer 26 September 2012

What will the future hold? The future of the world, the future of the nations. Only God can tell, and he has revealed what will happen in the Bible, through the prophets of Israel. There are many unfulfilled prophecies. We have been talking about the wars coming to the Middle East, about the destruction of Damascus, being the capital of Syria. We hear about an attack on Egypt. We read about a first ring around Israel, that suddenly will attack, in Psalm 83. We have talked about Ezekiel 38 and 39, when Russia and other nations, like a big ring around Israel, will suddenly attack Israel. (more…)

Focus on the future (3-12)

Rev. Willem Glashouwer 12 September 2012

What will the future bring to me personally and to planet Earth? Today we hear a lot about climate change. Earth is heating up, so the scientists say. The ice at the north and south poles is melting and the sea level is rising, slowly but steadily. The average temperature is rising. Does the Bible talk about these phenomena?

In the book of Revelation, in Rev 16, it says the following. The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun and the sun was given power to scorch the people with fire. (more…)
