editor 17 May 2018

By Greg Roman.. When US President Donald Trump vowed during his election campaign to put ‘America First,’ many commentators mocked him for what was a very reasonable policy. Moving the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem isn’t putting Israel first, it’s putting America first. [Photo top right: Pres Donald Trump At Kotel | Photo credit: Nati Shohat/Flash90].

By Naftali Bennett.. Naftali Bennett is Israel’s minister of education and minister of diaspora affairs. He has been a member of the security cabinet since 2013 and has led the Jewish Home party since 2012. The inauguration of the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem is an important recognition of Israel’s inherent right to govern itself. It is also the start of a new era, one in which the international community’s relationship is based on reality and fact, not fantasy and fiction. [Photo top right: Seal of a US Embassy].  (more…)

US envoy says Jerusalem under Israel is ‘model for coexistence in the world’

editor 27 April 2018

By Raphael Ahren.. David Friedman says Trump’s recognition of holy city as Israel’s capital was meant to ‘extend an olive branch to all major religions’. Jerusalem under Israeli sovereignty is a “model for coexistence” among the three major monotheistic religions, the US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman said Monday (April 23, 2018). At a panel discussion in the capital, the envoy also said intelligence cooperation between the two countries has saved American lives. At the same time, he expressed concern over young Americans’ weakening connection to Israel. Israel70 | Celebrating the argument

editor 19 April 2018

By Einat Wilf with Shany Mor.. Zionism and the State of Israel are unique examples of a movement of national liberation, and a state, established as ongoing debates, claim Einat Wilf with Shany Mor. Democratic debate about the character and future of the state has been at once a necessity, a virtue, a strength and a saving grace; in fact it has defined who we are. Here’s to the next 70 years of the argument. [Photo top right: Dr. Einat Wilf].  (more…)

Myths and facts about Gaza’s ‘march of return’

editor 17 April 2018

By Tzvi Fleischer.. The Strategist – 17 April 2018

The demonstrations along the Israel–Gaza border dubbed the ‘Great March of Return’ are a calculated and desperate propaganda move, largely organised and funded by Hamas alongside other terrorist organisations. Hamas, which has ruled Gaza since 2007, is designated in part or entirely a terrorist organisation by the United States, the European Union and Australia. It’s using the campaign to respond to its own international isolation, recent Arab–Israeli rapprochement and more overt American support for Israel’s position, such as the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. State-of-the-Art Light Show Celebrating King David and History of City Opens in Jerusalem

editor 7 April 2018

By Israel21C.. More than 3,000 years ago, a redheaded shepherd boy from Bethlehem felled a menacing giant with a slingshot. He played the harp and composed the poems immortalized in the book of Psalms. When he ascended to the throne, he established Jerusalem as the capital of the 12 tribes of Israel. The epic story of King David has inspired great painters and sculptors for centuries. Now that story is depicted in 18 larger-than-life projections on the ancient stone walls of the Tower of David Museum in Jerusalem’s Old City. editor 16 March 2018

By Nadav Shragai.. The new light rail line will run from Gilo on the southern side of the city, via the Hebrew University Givat Ram campus and will terminate on Mount Scopus. It will serve the Jewish population, as well as the Arab residents of Beit Safafa, Issawiya, and Wadi Joz. A French court rejected an appeal by a Palestinian group that claimed that the light rail project is in violation of international law. There is wide international interest in the project from European and Chinese companies seeking to operate the “Green Line” tender. [The term “green line” does not refer to the unofficial name given to 1949 Armistice line.] [Photo top right: Map of the Jerusalem Municipality’s projected Red and Green lines].  (more…)
