Iran’s Two-Front Strategy

editor 17 July 2018

By Tony Badran.. With simmering conflicts on the Golan and in Gaza, Tehran looks to strip Israel of its strategic advantages. Israel is about to face two active fronts on its borders: one in Gaza, and the other in the Golan Heights. As factions in Gaza fired rockets at Israel, an offensive of the alliance backing the Assad regime was underway in southern Syria, which is likely to reach the Golan soon. While this might appear as random coincidence, it’s more by design: The escalating attacks from Gaza should be seen as part of a coordinated Iranian strategy. The problem is Hezbollah

editor 23 March 2018

By Ziva Dahl..Current U.S. policy toward Lebanon confirms Voltaire’s observation that “the human brain is a complex organ with the wonderful power of enabling man to find reasons for continuing to believe whatever it is that he wants to believe.” Our Lebanese strategy of providing training and advanced military aid to the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) is based on the fallacy that it will promote stability and prevent Hezbollah from taking over the country. News flash: That takeover has occurred. [Photo top right: Hezbollah Soldiers | Credit: MEMO – Middle East Monitor]. (more…)

EU Parliament Politicians Call For A Full Ban Of Hezbollah

editor 7 March 2018

By Benjamin Weinthall.. Some 60 MEPs demanded that the European Parliament designate the entire organization – and not just its military wing – as a terrorist organization. Members of the European Parliament sent a letter on Thursday (February 22, 2018) to EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini, urging her to classify all of the Lebanese organization Hezbollah as a terrorist entity. Graham returns from Israel: We must ‘stop the Iran-Assad machine’

editor 1 March 2018

By Joe Gould.. WASHINGTON — War between Israel and Iranian proxy forces is imminent, a bipartisan group of U.S. senators warned Tuesday (February 27, 2018) after a trip to the Middle East last week. “Any time you leave a meeting where the request is ammunition, ammunition, ammunition, that’s probably not good,” Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said of a meeting with Israeli officials. Graham is the Senate’s lead appropriator for the U.S. State Department and a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee. Iran and the New Land Corridor

editor 27 December 2017

By Emil Avdaliani.. BESA Center Perspectives Paper No. 690, December 19, 2017

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: Reports emerged recently suggesting that Iran-backed forces are closer to controlling the Syria-Iraq border. This would mean Tehran will now be able to link up with its Lebanese proxy, Hezbollah. If this scenario is correct, after 12 years of conflict in Iraq and another conflict in Syria, Iran is steadily transforming into a more powerful geopolitical player whose influence will be projected hundreds and maybe thousands of kilometers beyond its borders. Storm clouds gathering over the region…writes isi Leibler

editor 30 November 2017

By Isi Leibner.. The volatility of political activity in the Middle East region is dizzying. The Syrian civil war is almost at an end. President Basher Assad remains in power and Iran and its surrogate Hezbollah have emerged as the clear victors. Disconcertingly, both the Americans and the Russians have apparently reached an agreement over Syria that would enable Hezbollah and Iranian ground forces to remain – effectively threatening Israel’s northern borders. Ending the War in Syria Could Be a Disaster for Europe

editor 21 September 2017

By Mordechai Kedar.. Blinded by the smokescreen of the war against ISIS, the world failed to notice that Tehran was taking over considerable parts of Syria — particularly in the sparsely populated center and east of the country. This Iranian takeover is being implemented by Shiite, Iraqi, Afghani and Iranian militias — but primarily by Lebanese Hezbollah. That group has been given a free hand to do whatever its leader, Hassan Nasrallah, pleases in western Syria, which is the more fertile part of the country and home to most of the population. (more…)

Hezbollah’s Missilies Will Not Rust

editor 5 August 2017

By Caroline Glick.. Israel weighs its options in the face of a dangerous military buildup across the border. Last month (June 2017) IDF Military Intelligence chief Maj.-Gen. Herzl Halevi made a stunning revelation. Hezbollah and Iran are transforming the terrorist group into a military force capable of independently producing its own precision weapons. (more…)

Column One: The New Middle East

editor 5 October 2016

By Caroline B. Glick.. So Obama let Syria burn. He let Iran and Hezbollah transform the country into their colony. And he let Putin transform the Mediterranean into a Russian lake. A new Syria is emerging. And with it, a new Middle East and world are presenting themselves. Our new world is not a peaceful or stable one. It is a harsh place. The eastern side of the city, which has been under the control of US-supported rebel groups since 2012, is being bombed into the Stone Age by Russian and Syrian aircraft. All avenues of escape have been blocked. Bennett: Israel is World’s ‘Front Post’ Against Global Terrorism

editor 16 September 2016

By Jonathan Benedek.. Education Minister and Chairman of the Jewish Home Party Naftali Bennett told a counter-terrorism conference Monday (September 12, 2016) that Israel is the world’s “front post” in the battle against terror. “No nation is as threatened by terror as we are,” Bennett told the International Institute for Counter-Terrorism annual conference. “We’ve got Hezbollah in the north, we’ve got Jabhat al-Nusra in Syria, we have ISIS in Sinai, we have Hamas in Gaza – four of our frontiers with the deadliest terror organizations in the world, yet we’re thriving and we’re leading the battle because we’re here and we’re not going anywhere.” (more…)
