Saying No to Kids

By Jennifer Richler.. In Israel, women are saying they can lead full lives without having children. Spend time in Israel, and before long, you’ll notice that the country is crazy for kids. Playgrounds abound, children are everywhere at all hours, and every woman in her 20s or 30s appears to be pushing a stroller, with at least a couple of children trailing after her. The average Israeli woman today has about three children over her lifetime, nearly double the rate of the rest of the developed world. Israel also has one of the highest rates of infertility treatment. (more…)


Jewish, Arab fertility rates in Israel on par for first time

By Time of Israel Staff.. Arab rate drops, Jewish rate rises, and women in both groups now give birth to an average of 3.13 children, highest in OECD. The fertility rates of Jewish and Arab women were identical for the first time in Israeli history in 2015, according to figures released by the Israel Central Bureau of Statistics on Tuesday (November 15, 2016) to mark International Child Day.
