An Open Letter to the Foreign Minister of Slovenia

editor 3 February 2018

By David Harris.. Dear Minister Erjavec,

You are on record as calling for your country to unilaterally recognize a Palestinian state as soon as possible.

In doing so, you said that you believe this will advance the prospects for peace in the region. But as a long-time supporter of the quest for a two-state agreement, I would respectfully ask you to reconsider your position. This is neither the time nor the way to move the parties closer to an accord. To the contrary, it will only make a daunting challenge still more so. Europe Remains Blind Because It Doesn’t Want To See

editor 29 August 2017

By Melanie Phillips.. In Budapest this week (July 18, 2017), Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had an unintentionally revealing moment. On an open microphone, he was overheard condemning as “crazy” the EU’s insistence on resolving the Israel-Palestinian conflict as a precondition for closer trade ties. European links with Israel, he said, would determine whether the EU would “live and thrive or shrivel and disappear.” [Photo top right: Israeli PM Netanyahu and Hungarian PM Viktor Orbán](more…)
