In Time, the Truth Outlives the Lie

What happens underground may not be visible to cameras above. But the truth, sooner or later, surfaces. With this sentence an editorial of the Jerusalem post closed this week. It sounded almost prophetic. The bible speaks about truth, one of the leading verses is John 8:32 where Jesus addressed his followers who believed he was the Messiah and said: and you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.’

Many Universities, colleges and schools have used this phrase ‘The truth will set you free’ as their motto. Even the CIA has engraved the verse on their original Headquarter building. And we acknowledge that in the past decade we have seen an erosion of truth. Lies are spread, people are misled. No longer the truth is important, but everything seems to depend on the ‘right’ narrative and which facts, real or false, will help that narrative. The bible tells us something else, not the narrative will set you free, but the truth will! So let us be on the lookout for shivers of truth surfacing.

We worship a God, who is a God of truth. We therefore should speak truth into our communities, our churches and our nations.

“You will know the truth and the truth will set you free.”
John 8:32

Oxfam UK

Former Oxfam UK CEO Halima Begum is taking the charity to an employment tribunal, alleging antisemitism, racism, sexism, and institutional bias in its approach to the Israel Hamas war. Begum, a Bangladeshi British Muslim who left the organization in December, told Channel 4 that she faced a “witch hunt” and internal pressure to label the Gaza conflict a genocide before Oxfam had gathered sufficient evidence or legal justification. She said the organization focused disproportionately on Gaza and that maintaining neutrality was increasingly difficult. Oxfam GB responded that it had not yet received her legal claim and rejected her description as “inaccurate and misleading,” while a spokesperson for former Oxfam chair Charles Gurassa dismissed the allegations as “completely spurious.”

The controversy comes amid longstanding accusations that Oxfam holds an anti Israel bias. NGO Monitor has previously highlighted links between Hamas and an Oxfam partner organization, arguing that the charity has been vulnerable to political manipulation. Following Begum’s interview, the watchdog said her claims of internal pressure and bias reflect a broader trend in which activism and hostility toward Israel have replaced objectivity within some NGOs. The case raises renewed questions about impartiality, evidence standards and political influence within major humanitarian organizations.

Doctors without Borders

Doctors without Borders found the courage to state what they saw happening in a Gaza Hospital: Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has, for the first time during the current war, publicly acknowledged that armed groups operated inside a Gaza hospital—an admission that directly supports long standing Israeli claims. MSF reported suspending nonessential operations at Nasser Hospital in January after staff witnessed armed men moving weapons, intimidating patients, and arresting patients. Although MSF avoided naming Hamas, its statement marks a major shift: until now, no major humanitarian organization had confirmed such activity.

For years, Israel has argued that Hamas embeds military infrastructure within civilian sites, especially hospitals, using them for command centers, weapons storage, and protection from Israeli strikes. These claims were frequently dismissed or minimized by international NGOs and UN agencies, which often accused Israel of exaggeration to justify military action. That skepticism contributed to a narrative that placed Israel in a deliberately negative light whenever it operated near medical facilities.

MSF’s acknowledgment challenges that narrative. It reinforces the IDF’s warnings about Hamas’s exploitation of hospitals and may force a reassessment among organizations that previously rejected Israel’s evidence. Recognizing the militarization of medical sites does not justify every Israeli action, but it does establish a crucial reality: when armed groups use hospitals, they endanger civilians, aid workers, and soldiers alike.

NGO Monitor

Gerald Steinberg of NGO monitor states that the anti-Israel bias of major NGO’s isn’t something that appeared overnight. The takeover of the NGO industry was gradual, but today, organizations founded for different purposes have been transformed by activists whose fundamental objective is delegitimizing Israel.

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) for instance admitted suspending non critical operations at a Gaza hospital after armed individuals were seen moving through the facility, raising long ignored concerns about Hamas’s use of medical sites. NGO Monitor’s Gerald Steinberg argued that such activity had been documented for years by journalists and the IDF, making it implausible that major humanitarian organizations were unaware. He questioned why NGOs are only now acknowledging these realities.
Steinberg suggested the shift may be tied to new Israeli requirements that NGOs submit staff names for security vetting, pressuring organizations to cooperate with counter terror screening. He linked this to a broader pattern: many NGOs, originally founded for humanitarian or development purposes, have been gradually taken over by activists whose central political objective is the delegitimization of Israel. According to Steinberg, this activist driven culture has fueled a coordinated “genocide campaign,” in which NGOs pushed to label the Gaza war a genocide without sufficient evidence, even while remaining silent about Hamas’s exploitation of hospitals and diversion of aid to build extensive tunnel networks.

If NGOs knew these facts yet chose to suppress them while amplifying unfounded genocide accusations, Steinberg argued, they risk complicity—not only in misinformation, but in enabling the very abuses they claim to oppose.

Francesca Albanese

Several ministers of Foreign Affairs again demanded the resignation of UN special rapporteur Francesca Albanese. Jean-Noel Barrot, the French minister, was quite outspoken about Albanese and names her “a political activist who stirs up hate.” France will demand her resignation “with firmness” at this month’s U.N. Human Rights Council session.

The United Nations continues to defend Francesca Albanese, its special rapporteur for the Palestinians, despite escalating international pressure for her dismissal over repeated antisemitic statements. After Albanese referred to a “common enemy of humanity” in remarks widely interpreted as targeting Israel, Austria, Germany, Italy and France all called for her removal, arguing that her conduct violates the impartiality required of a U.N. representative.

Albanese has defended herself by claiming her comments referred to a “system” enabling what she calls genocide in Gaza. Speaking at a Qatar based forum alongside Hamas and Iranian officials, she accused Israel of planning genocide and repeated tropes about Jewish control of wealth and technology. Her long record of inflammatory statements includes claims about a “Jewish lobby” controlling U.S. policy and false allegations involving sexual violence.

In addition to government criticism, Christians for Israel USA has filed a defamation lawsuit against Albanese, adding legal pressure to the diplomatic backlash. Despite this, the U.N. maintains it disagrees with her language but will not remove her, insisting that member states must act through the Human Rights Council if they seek change.

Gaza

U.S. President Donald Trump went ahead with his Board of Peace. He chaired the inaugural meeting in Washington, where more than 40 countries and the European Union gathered to discuss Phase 2 of his Gaza plan. Several nations—including Germany, Italy, Norway and Switzerland—attended only as observers, declining to formally join the initiative. Senior U.S. officials and international figures such as Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, Ambassador Mike Waltz, Jared Kushner, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and Gaza representative Nickolay Mladenov addressed the summit.

The Gaza Executive Board is expected to update participants on efforts to establish governance and essential services through the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG), the transitional body intended to replace Hamas. Trump announced that Board members have pledged over $5 billion for humanitarian and reconstruction efforts and committed personnel for stabilization forces, stressing that Hamas must honor its agreement to fully demilitarize.

Despite previously accepting disarmament terms in 2025, senior Hamas leaders have recently rejected key elements of the plan. Israeli intelligence reports indicate that Hamas is re entrenching itself in Gaza by placing loyalists in administrative roles, collecting taxes and embedding operatives in ministries. U.S. officials maintain that Hamas’s demilitarization remains essential for Gaza’s reconstruction and for the Board of Peace to succeed.

Iran

In the meantime, an immense buildup of US arms is taking place around Iran. Pressuring the ayatollah regime to give in to US demands. Israel is taking precautions to defend its population in the event Iran decides to retaliate against the Jewish state once attacked by the US.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a stark warning to Iran, declaring that the Islamic Republic would face “unimaginable” consequences if it attacks Israel. Speaking at an IDF officers’ graduation ceremony, he emphasized that Israel is fully prepared for any scenario and that any strike by Tehran would trigger a response beyond what Iran “can even imagine.” Netanyahu noted that Israel is coordinating closely with the United States and had recently presented its strategic position on Iran during his meeting with President Donald Trump in Washington.

The warning comes amid rapidly rising regional tensions. The United States has deployed significant naval and air power to the Middle East—its largest buildup since 2003—while Washington and Tehran have held two rounds of nuclear talks. President Trump stated he expects to decide within days whether a meaningful agreement with Iran is possible or whether military action will be necessary, saying, “Otherwise, bad things happen.”

Netanyahu described a major shift in Israel’s security doctrine, moving from deterrence to sustained preemptive action, and said Israel has already struck adversaries across multiple fronts, weakening what he called “the Iranian axis of evil.” Defense Minister Israel Katz and IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir echoed the message, warning Iran and its proxies not to test Israel’s resolve.

This week, pray for truth to prevail. Pray for Christian journalist, that they are not tempted to fill in a narrative with false facts, but will stay faithful to their calling to communicate truth.

Pray that those spreading lies might be exposed, the haters of Israel and the Jewish people removed from office and public positions. Pray that truth will be thriving in our churches, that pastors will be bold enough to stand for truth and biblical principles. Pray that the lies which have sneaked into Christian theology will no longer be able to deceive Christians, but that God will reveal himself both to Israel and the Church as the God faithful to His covenant with Abraham, Isak and Jacob.

SCRIPTURE FOR THE WEEK:

Psalm 57

Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me, for in you my soul takes refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed.
2 I cry out to God Most High, to God, who fulfills [his purpose] for me.
3 He sends from heaven and saves me, rebuking those who hotly pursue me;
Selah God sends his love and his faithfulness.
4 I am in the midst of lions; I lie among ravenous beasts- men whose teeth are spears and arrows, whose tongues are sharp swords.
5 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth.
6 They spread a net for my feet- I was bowed down in distress. They dug a pit in my path- but they have fallen into it themselves. Selah
7 My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music.
8 Awake, my soul! Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn.
9 I will praise you, O LORD, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples.
10 For great is your love, reaching to the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
11 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth.
