Because of Zion

Hubert Luns 11 January 2010

Characteristic of the history of the people of Israel is the continual desire for Zion, for Jerusalem, for the Holy City. Arising during the Babylonian Exile, it has continued up to the present day, after centuries of Diaspora, pogroms and extermination camps. (more…)

Your God is my God

Andrew Tucker 3 December 2009

On 11th November I had the privilege of meeting the Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdal Lieberman during his recent visit to Holland. I had the opportunity to explain to him why as a Christian I support Israel and the Jewish people. As I was preparing my speech, I re-read the story of Naomi and her daughters-in-law Ruth and Orpah. I was deeply moved by the simplicity and power of Ruth´s decision. (more…)

editor 2 December 2009

Rev. Gijs Lammerts van Bueren
The creation of the new state of Israel in 1948 has greatly influenced church thought concerning God’s plan of salvation for the Jewish people and the land promise. Many ‘Church and Israel’ commissions rapidly followed one another and countless articles and books were published on this topic. Almost sixty years have passed, and while this continues, the last word has not yet been spoken. (more…)

Why I am not a “Christian Zionist”

Andrew Tucker 14 September 2009

I am not a Jew. I am a Gentile. An Australian who lives in Holland, who has been saved by the grace of God.  I love Israel and the Jewish people. Unconditionally. In my daily life I am active in helping Jewish people in Israel, and also Jews who want to come to Israel. And I defend the right of the Jewish people to live in Palestine in safety and security.  So who and what am I? When I read the Christian media, I discover that I am a “Christian Zionist”.

Do you have to be a Christian Zionist to support Israel?

Kees de Vreugd 26 August 2009

By Kees de Vreugd
Christian Zionism has been the subject of several, mainly critical studies. Not just in the ‘mainline’ churches, but also from within the evangelical movement Christian Zionism has been under attack. It is therefore a relief to read the study by Paul Richard Wilkinson, For Zion’s Sake. Christian Zionism and the Role of John Nelson Darby. (Milton Keynes (UK) 2007. ISBN: 978-1-84227-569-6) (more…)

The Exodus

Andrew Tucker 30 June 2009

The British refused to accommodate the Jews. The situation reached rock bottom when the British Navy boarded the ship ‘The Exodus 1947′ just inside the territorial waters of Haifa. The ship had left Marseille in France on July 9th 1947, and sailed through the Mediterranean Sea to Palestine. (more…)

Aliyah from the South

editor 30 June 2009

The prophet Isaiah talks about the Jews in the whole world when he unfolds the plan of the Lord: “I will bring your children from the east and gather you from the west, I will say to the north: Give them up! And to the south: do not hold them back, bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the ends of the earth…” (Isaiah 43:5,6) (more…)

Aliyah from the land of the North

Marianne 30 June 2009

We all know the story of the release of the Jewish People from Egypt, their journey through the Red Sea and 40 years wandering through the desert, on their way to the promised land. This happened many, many years ago. But the return of the Jewish people in our days, and especially since 1948, is much larger in size. The Bible speaks many times very clearly about the land of the North, far in the north of Israel.
