UK–Israel Relations: 100 Years Since The Balfour Declaration

editor 13 September 2017

By David A. Dangoor.. Today we are also secured by our ties in trade, investment, security, cooperation, technology and science, for the benefit of the peoples of both countries. A hundred years ago, British foreign secretary Arthur Balfour wrote a short letter to Lord Walter Rothschild, a leader of the British Jewish community, for transmission to the Zionist Federation of Great Britain and Ireland. The Balfour Declaration was a seminal moment in the long history of Zionist activity and Jewish dreams of a return to their indigenous and ancestral homeland. (more…)

Iranians meet Holocaust survivors, ‘embarassed by ignorance’

editor 31 July 2017

By Ahiya Raved.. Young people of Iranian descent living in UK listen (June 5, 2013) to stories of Holocaust survivors, speak in turn about their childhoods, being educated to hate Israel. ‘We have no real way to influence Iranian government, but we can pass on stories we heard here,’ they say. Fifteen young men and women of Iranian descent who now live in Britain met on Tuesday in Haifa with Holocaust survivors and heard, for the first time in their lives, stories about life in the concentration camps and life in the ghettos. Denial: The Labour Party’s Antisemitism

editor 10 July 2017

By Melanie Phillips.. David Hirsh’s must-see video, Whitewashed: Antisemitism in the Labour Party (which you can view below) starts with a truly shocking clip of Jeremy Corbyn speaking. Having referred to the profoundly anti-Jewish, murderous terrorist organisations Hezbollah and Hamas as his “friends”, he says (of either or both): “The idea that an organisation that is dedicated towards the good of the Palestinian people and bringing about long term peace and social justice, and political justice, in the whole region should be labelled a terrorist organisation by the British government is a big, big historical mistake”. How UK police are turning to Israel for help stopping ‘lone wolf’ terror attacks

editor 6 July 2017

By Kim Sengupta..Exclusive: ‘I must admit that if I was walking around as a police officer in London at a time like this, with just a baton for protection, then I would be worried’. “Eight minutes would be too long, we cannot afford eight minutes” Chief Inspector Micky Rosenfeld shook his head. “Too many could be killed and injured in that time, I am afraid, we need to move and counter attacks here much faster.” [Photo top right:Israeli police arrest Palestinian during clashes in east Jerusalem in 2015, source Getty].  (more…)

Britain United Against Terrorism And Hate? It’s A Lie

editor 30 June 2017

By Melanie Phillips.. As reported here, a study by the University of Oslo has found that most anti-Jewish violence in France, Sweden, Germany and the UK is committed by Muslim extremists. This is all the more striking considering that Muslims currently make up only relatively small proportions of the populations of these countries. Scarcely less notable (though no surprise to some of us) is that left-wing violence was the next largest category of anti-Jewish attacks, with right-wing violence trailing into insignificance. Only in Germany were right-wing attacks more numerous than left-wing ones, and then by a relatively small margin. (more…)

Denial Still Flows Over Londonistan

editor 3 June 2017

By Melanie Phillips.. In the wake of the jihadi human bomb attack in Manchester (May 22, 2017), Britain’s Prime Minister Theresa May said: “We struggle to comprehend the warped and twisted mind that sees a room packed with young children not as a scene to cherish but an opportunity for carnage.”
Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel said: “ It is unbelievable that somebody has used a joyful pop concert to kill or seriously injure so many people.”A headline in the Washington Post read: “In suburban Manchester, a search for what might have motivated the attacker”.
“Struggle to comprehend”? “Unbelievable”? “What might have motivated the attacker”? Really?? (more…)

Hitler’s British death island

editor 13 May 2017

By Colonel Richard Kemp and John Weigold.. Astonishing story of how the Nazis murdered 40,000 people in Channel Island concentration camps – and planned to blitz the South Coast with chemical weapons. On a spring afternoon, the grassy headland is bursting with a joy that lifts the soul. Sunshine, blue sea and sky; splashes of golden gorse catch the light and bluebells sway in the breeze; larks float on air currents while gannets in their thousands swoop and screech on a rocky island below. This is the southern tip of Alderney, smallest of the three main Channel Islands. Across the water, Guernsey, Sark and Jersey glisten. It has to be one of the most beautiful, tranquil and inspiring sights in the whole of Britain. But close your eyes, take your mind back 75 years . . . and this idyll is a scene of sheer horror. The Hamas Formulation

editor 14 April 2017

By Melanie Philips.. Why is everyone so shocked by the Labour party’s decision not to expel Ken Livingstone? I wasn’t the slightest bit surprised. Indeed, I would have been amazed had it done so. Of course, his claim that Hitler had supported Zionism was a grotesque and profoundly Jew-bashing untruth. The only overtures between Zionists and the Nazis were for the Jews a desperate manoeuvre to save some from extermination, and for the Nazis a way of getting rid of them. (more…)

Recognition of the Historical Connection to Palestine

editor 11 February 2017

By Eli E. Hertz.. Fifty-one member countries – the entire League of Nations – unanimously declared on July 24, 1922: “Whereas recognition has been given to the historical connection of the Jewish people with Palestine and to the grounds for reconstituting their national home in that country.” Unlike nation-states in Europe, modern Lebanese, Jordanian, Syrian, and Iraqi nationalities did not evolve. They were arbitrarily created by colonial powers. (more…)
