Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson Hails “Amazing Relationship” With Israel At CFI Parliamentary Reception

editor 15 February 2018

By Conservative Friends of Israel (CFI).. Secretary of State for Defence, Rt. Hon. Gavin Williamson MP, underlined that “Britain will always be Israel’s friend” at Conservative Friends of Israel’s Annual Parliamentary Reception on Tuesday (January 30, 2018). Addressing an audience of over 250 CFI supporters, including 50 parliamentarians, the Defence Secretary praised Israel as a “beacon of light and hope, in a region where there is so much hatred and hurt”. He emphasised: “We shouldn’t underestimate how difficult it is to keep that light bright and burning”. [Photo top right: Secretary of State for Defence, Rt. Hon. Gavin Williamson MP | CFI].  (more…)

MPs’ brilliant answers to hypocritical singling out of Israel’s arrests of minors

editor 13 February 2018

By Christians United for Israel (CUFI).. John Howell MP was among a number of MPs that provided brilliant responses in defence of Israel during a debate in Westminster Hall today (Wednesday 7, 2018). The debate titled ‘Military detention of Palestinian children by Israeli authorities’ included incredibly hostile speeches in a room full of mostly anti-Israel MPs. However the MP for Henley challenged the hypocrisy by revealing the figures of juvenile arrests made by Britain during the 2011 riots. Other MPs also shared the truth about the threats Israel face and unjust singling out of Israel. FANTASTIC! (more…)

Trump derangement syndrome strikes as leftists target Britain’s former chief rabbi

editor 7 February 2018

By Caroline Glick.. Trump Derangement Syndrome reached a new low last week, as Jewish leftists in America and Britain waged a brutal assault against Lord Jonathan Sacks, the former chief rabbi of Britain. It isn’t only President Donald Trump that the “Resistance” seeks to destroy. And their bloodlust isn’t limited to those who work for him, or even to his voters. If you so much as help the administration achieve a goal that you believe in, for the “Resistance,” you are a criminal. Sacks served as Britain’s chief rabbi from 1991 through 2013. He is arguably the most widely respected Jewish religious leader in the English-speaking world. (more…)

Time To Shame Those Who Spread Prejudice

editor 26 January 2018

By Melanie Phillips.. University antisemitism is a serious and growing problem. Jewish students increasingly say they fear being on campus because of anti-Jewish vilification or harassment. Last year (2017), an NUS study found more than a quarter of them had been subjected to personal abuse on social media or other channels. The universities minister, Jo Johnson, made an important speech last week at Limmud, the acclaimed Jewish learnathon. While the universities had to defend free speech better than they were doing, he said, there could be no place on campus for antisemitism. Palestinianism Is Over. Someone Please Tell The British

editor 25 January 2018

By Melanie Phillips.. Apparently insulted by repeated slights from Britain’s political class and populace, President Donald Trump has decided to cancel his proposed visit there. Desperate to rescue the all-important post-Brexit US trade deal that might now be in jeopardy, Prime Minister Theresa May is seeking to “clear the air” with the president at the World Economic Forum in Davos next week (23-26 January 2018 Davos-Klosters, Switzerland). Good luck with that one. [Photo top right: Pottery found in the City of David excavations | Photo credit Ferrel’s Travel Blog].  (more…)

Open Anti-Semitism in Britain. Who Cares? Not The Anti-Racist Left

editor 15 January 2018

By Melanie Phillips.. A demonstration was held in London last week (December 2017) in protest at President Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. It featured the usual suspects: the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, Stop the War Coalition, Friends of Al Aqsa, War on Want, Socialist Worker. Nothing surprising about any of that. The far left — along with significant NGOs — is motivated by a vicious loathing of Israel and support for those committed to its extermination. British Jews, Right and Left

editor 12 January 2018

By Melanie Phillips.. I was interviewed for an interesting and thoughtful BBC Radio Four programme about the changing political allegiances of British Jews, presented by Jo Coburn. It contains some poignant personal reminiscences, fascinating historical and political nuggets and no small anguish at how this tiny community’s ingrained nervousness as the target of bigotry has now soared once again to a high level. Jewish Action — Not Balfour — Created Israel

editor 14 December 2017

By Einat Wilf.. The campaign waged by Palestinians and their supporters to demand that Britain apologize for the Balfour Declaration, a century after it was issued, betrays yet again their fundamental misunderstanding of how and why the modern State of Israel came into being. Israel is the outcome of deliberate Jewish action — not of foreign hand-outs. Israel is a country attained – not a land given. (more…)

Mahmoud Abbas’s Guardian op-ed illustrates the dishonesty of the ‘Palestinian narrative’

editor 20 November 2017

By Adam Levick.. The Guardian’s efforts to amplify the ‘injustice’ of Israel’s continued existence in the context of the Balfour Centennial went into high gear yesterday (November 1, 2017), as they published an op-ed  by PA President Mahmoud Abbas that included nearly every distortion and lie within what’s known as the ‘Palestinian narrative’.

Here are some of Abbas’s claims in his op-ed (Britain must atone for the Balfour declaration – and 100 years of suffering, November 1, 2017). (more…)

The Malevolent Guest At London’s Balfour Dinner

editor 7 November 2017

By Melanie Phillips.. When Labour party leader Jeremy Corbyn refused to attend this week’s dinner in London to mark the centenary of the Balfour Declaration, a dinner to which Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been invited as the guest of Britain’s Prime Minister Theresa May, Corbyn said Labour’s shadow foreign secretary Emily Thornberry would attend in his place.
