A very big deal to solve a very big problem

editor 3 March 2017

By Einat Wilf and Adi Schwartz.. President Donald Trump, as expressed in the press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, now aspires in the Middle East to “a much bigger deal”, “a much more important deal”, one that “would take in many, many countries” and “would cover a very large territory.” This kind of regional deal between the Arab world – and perhaps, the entire Muslim world – and the Jewish State of Israel was always the only deal to be had: a very big deal to solve a very big problem. The U.S.-Israel economic bond

editor 28 February 2017

By Jon Medved.. Much of the talk around President Trump’s meeting this week with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House surrounds the political and security relationship between the two countries. That is important. But it is only part of the story. Despite having a tiny population of eight million people, Israel is playing a crucial role in helping to power the U.S. economy for the next generation. (more…)

How to get to two states: Netanyahu shines a bright light on the obstacles to a lasting peace

editor 25 February 2017

By New York Daily News.. Setting aside a perplexing remark by President Trump, he and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a strong and important show of unity at the White House Wednesday (February 15, 2017). Bad news first: Trump’s apparent ignorance of the two-state solution, which for very good reason has been the basis for Mideast peace negotiations for decades. “I’m looking at two states and one state. I like the one that both parties like.” (more…)

Trump and May must circumvent Security Council Resolution 2334…writes David Singer

editor 26 January 2017

By David Singer.. President Trump’s meeting with UK Prime Minister Theresa May this coming Friday (January 27, 2017) affords them a perfect opportunity to discuss reaffirming their countries commitments to the Jewish People made by America in 2004 and Great Britain in 1922 – which were seriously undermined when neither country vetoed Security Council Resolution 2334 on 23 December 2016. America’s commitments were given in a letter from President George Bush to then Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon dated 14 April 2004 to: (more…)

Why Trump Should Move US Embassy to Jerusalem

editor 21 January 2017

By Kenneth Lasson.. It’s a wonder that US passports for people born in Israel’s holy city don’t list them as having entered the world in “Occupied Jerusalem.” If President-elect Donald Trump is as much a man of his word as he says he is, he’ll move the US embassy in Israel to Jerusalem shortly after he takes office. There are good diplomatic and constitutional reasons for him to do so. [Photo top right: The US embassy in Tel Aviv. (photo credit:REUTERS)] (more…)

Opinion: End of Obama Could Mean End of Trickery on Iran

editor 22 November 2016

By Amir Taheri.. On several occasions during the presidential election campaign, Donald Trump spoke of “tearing up” President Barack Obama’s so-called nuclear deal with Iran. The Islamic Republic President Hasan Rouhani, however, has insisted that President Trump won’t be able to do that. In a sense, Rouhani is right: there is no duly negotiated, approved and signed agreement to tear up. What we have is a fiction that Obama, helped by the Rafsanjani faction in Tehran and the European Union, has sold to world public opinion. (more…)
