Jesus the suffering Servant. In this season of Lent, it is fit to devote some thoughts to the prophecy of the suffering Messiah. The fourth hymn of the Servant of the Lord is one of the core texts, maybe even the central prophecy of the expiatory suffering and death of Christ. Jesus himself applied the words of Isaiah 53:5-6 and 11-12 to His suffering (e.g. Mark 10:45 en 14:41). (more…)

The publication of the “Kairos document” condemning the Israeli “occupation” of Palestinian territories as “an evil and a sin that must be resisted and removed” has taken the church worldwide by storm.
