SHAVOUOTH – FEAST OF WEEKS

By Rev Willem Glashouwer.. It is celebrated 50 days after the Feast of Firstfruits and it is the 4th of the Feasts of Spring. Shavouoth means ‘weeks’. So 7 weeks were counted from the Feast of Firstfruits, and the firstfruit offerings of the summer wheat crop was brought into the Temple – whereas at the Feast of Firstfruits marked the beginning of the spring barley harvest. This festival is also referred to ‘Atzeret’ – meaning conclusion, because it is the conclusion of the Passover season. No more major holidays until the autumn. (more…)

By Rev Willem Glashouwer.. When you focus on the future you may wonder about what future we are heading for. The Bible is very clear about it. Ultimately we are heading for the Kingdom of God. One day Jesus will come back in Glory. He will sit on the throne of his father David and that throne stood in Jerusalem. He will rule among Jacob, which means Israel. And of His Kingdom there shall be no end! We live in the days that we see the return of the Jewish people to the Promised Land. We see the restoration plan of God. (more…)

 

WARS IN THE MIDDLE EAST

By Rev Willem Glashouwer.. We have to study the larger end-time picture, before placing  the Middle Eastern wars under the magnifying glass. Then we will know where we are heading for. The unfolding of this phase of world history is at hand. We are rapidly approaching the appearance of the final world empire. Everything that once was in the Biblical Empires of the past (Daniel 2) will be appearing once again on the world-scene, all united and condensed within this final empire. (more…)

By Rev Willem Glashouwer.. The weather in Holland is often not very good. In Africa there is beautiful warm weather and sunshine.  In Holland we listen to the weather forecast. And we are given the weather forecast for five or six days ahead.  They can do that today because of the computers and the weather satellites.  And so they can predict the kind of weather that comes to me and you. In Matthew 16 Jesus discusses the disciples’ ability to predict the weather but not the signs of the times. And in Matthew 24 His disciples ask Him to help them understand the signs of the times. By Rev Willem Glashouwer.. The prophecies in the Bible are like slides. They contain a lot of details and show what the future will look like. Led by the Holy Spirit, the prophets described them to us. These prophetic slides do not present a road map. There is only one order of events in the Bible and that is Matthew 24. When the disciples ask: “Lord, how will we know that You come back in Glory?” Jesus starts telling about these events. (more…)

I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. And prophecy is history written in advance, clear, with a lot of details. Simply describing all kinds of events that are happening and will happen in the future. He leads the history of this world towards His goal. And His goal is the coming of His Kingdom and the coming of Jesus in glory! Imagine it for a minute that the clouds open up, that the Shekinah Glory of God covering the Holiness of God will bring Jesus back to planet earth. Focus On the Future (Series 2, Episode 8)

By Rev Willem Glashouwer.. In Matthew 24 Jesus speaks about the final days. He talks about wars and famines and lawlessness and false prophets and so forth. But Jesus also mentions two positive signs. One positive sign is in verse 14: “And the Gospel of the Kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations and then the end will come.” Not the end of the world but the end of this phase of world history. And then the next phase will start. So, the Gospel will be preached to the ends of the earth. (more…)
