Many Christians hold the view that the New Testament is, at best, silent on the issue of the land of Israel. Or they say: the Old Testament promise of the land for the people of Israel is cancelled, or transformed to mean the heavenly kingdom of God.Is it true that the NT is silent on the promise of the land? Where are the lost tribes of Israel?

About 2,700 years ago the land of Israel was invaded by Assyria and ten of the nation’s tribes were carried away into captivity. No return of these tribes to their land has been recorded in the Bible or in secular histories. Nothing more has been heard of them. Apparently they vanished without trace. But the Bible says they have an important place in Israel’s future.

On 11th November I had the privilege of meeting the Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdal Lieberman during his recent visit to Holland. I had the opportunity to explain to him why as a Christian I support Israel and the Jewish people. As I was preparing my speech, I re-read the story of Naomi and her daughters-in-law Ruth and Orpah. I was deeply moved by the simplicity and power of Ruth´s decision. (more…)

Decision time for the nations

There are many reasons why the world should take seriously the threats against Israel being spewed forth by the leaders of Iran, and their disciples Hamas and Hizbollah. One of them is that the Jewish people are the apple of God’s eye, and a threat to wipe out Israel is in fact a threat to destroy something that is dearly precious to the Lord God. (more…)
