Jesus will sit on the throne of His father David

Willem Glashouwer 15 December 2011

The Angel Gabriel made two promises to Mary. First – she would be the mother of a Holy Child. Second – this child would sit on the throne of His father David. The first promise has been fulfilled. The second remains to be fulfilled. It will be fulfilled soon, because the God of Israel by His only-begotten Son Jesus has started to bring His First-born son Israel back to the Promised Land of Israel. The people of Israel, the land of Israel, the nation of Israel and the city of Jerusalem are being prepared for the Coming of the Lord. (more…)

400 Silent Years? The Post Maccabean Period (Part 11)

editor 6 August 2011

By Lance Lambert.. This last short period we will consider began with Pompey’s conquest of the Promised Land in 63 BC and ends with the birth of Christ in 6 BC approximately. Although short this period is noteworthy in that it saw the people of God come under Roman law and government, the rise of the Herod’s; the rebuilding of the Temple; the quickening anticipation of the coming Messiah; and the preparation of a tiny but faithful remnant. All this in less than 60 years. (more…)

400 Silent Years? God’s Land (Part 8)

editor 30 July 2011

Lance Lambert.. We need to say something about the history of the Promised Land during these 400 years, and how the administrative districts and local character and differences evolved. When the Jews returned to Judah in 586 BC they controlled a very small area, more or less the tribal area of Judah, within the Persian Empire. Over this area they were given Home Rule. There was a gradual expansion southwards and eastwards, with Jewish communities coming into being throughout the Land. This gradual expansion continued through the Greek era. (more…)

Blood and soil (part II) The redemption of Israel is the redemption of the world

Does the New Testament tell us anything concerning the land of Israel? part III

Rev. Jaap de Vreugd 13 April 2011

Many Christians hold the view that the New Testament is, at best, silent on the issue of the land of Israel. Or they say: the Old Testament promise of the land for the people of Israel is cancelled, or transformed to mean the heavenly kingdom of God.Is it true that the NT is silent on the promise of the land? Does it deny Israel’s hope for restoration? Does the promised land really mean “only” a kingdom of God in heaven? This is the last part of a series of three articles. (more…)
