By Lance Lambert.. This last short period we will consider began with Pompey’s conquest of the Promised Land in 63 BC and ends with the birth of Christ in 6 BC approximately. Although short this period is noteworthy in that it saw the people of God come under Roman law and government, the rise of the Herod’s; the rebuilding of the Temple; the quickening anticipation of the coming Messiah; and the preparation of a tiny but faithful remnant. Lance Lambert.. We need to say something about the history of the Promised Land during these 400 years, and how the administrative districts and local character and differences evolved. When the Jews returned to Judah in 586 BC they controlled a very small area, more or less the tribal area of Judah, within the Persian Empire. Over this area they were given Home Rule. There was a gradual expansion southwards and eastwards, with Jewish communities coming into being throughout the Land. This gradual expansion continued through the Greek era. (more…)
By Israel Today Staff.. Earlier this week, Israel Today reported on a textbook used to teach English as a second language in the UK that contained a map of the Middle East upon which Israel was nowhere to be found.
In place of Israel, the entirety of the Holy Land was labeled as “Occupied Palestine” on a map found in the book “Skills in English Writing – Level 1”. (more…)
By Samuel Westrop.. Why is the British Council, sponsored by the British Foreign Office, endorsing a textbook that wipes Israel off the map and indoctrinates students with anti-Western material? Ahmadinejad promised it. Now British textbooks are doing it. Israel has been wiped off the map by Garnet Education, an English-language teaching company in Britain, whose educational textbook ‘Skills in English Writing Level 1’, aimed at foreign students and immigrants to the UK, contains a map with “Occupied Palestine” in place of the Jewish State.
By Lonnie C. Mings.. If Israelis—be they “settlers” in the usual sense or not—build their homes in territory that does not fall within the area allotted to Israel in the 1947 UN partition of “Palestine,” they are judged by the world to be illegally occupying someone else’s land. The settlers, on the other hand, believing they were enabled by the grace of God to return to their erstwhile homeland, feel they have a biblical mandate to cover the land with their homes and institutions. In response, the world cries “foul!” (more…)
Mahmoud Abbas has written a “Christmas Message from Palestine to the Christians of the World” which may be the most hypocritical thing he has ever done. And that’s saying a lot. First he says that Israeli settlements are making the life of residents of Bethlehem a “living hell.” He goes on to say: (more…)

Israel has lived, during that time in an almost continuous atmosphere of war predictions—the predicted war, always being rescheduled. The latest prediction was for the end of Sukkot, and the American Election on November the 6 th. This has now been rescheduled for spring of 2013, after Israel’s election. (more…)
By Melanie Lidman.. The Jerusalem Municipality awarded initial approval to a plan to rebuild the Tiferet Israel synagogue in the Old City’s Jewish Quarter, a magnificent domed synagogue from the 19th century which was destroyed in the 1948 War of Independence. (more…)
“…But you will cross the Jordan and settle in the land the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance, and He will give you rest from all your enemies around you so that you live in safety. Then to the place the Lord your God will choose as A DWELLING FOR HIS NAME—there you shall bring everything I command you: your burnt offerings and sacrifices, your tithes and the special gifts, and all the choice possessions you have vowed to the Lord. And there rejoice before the Lord your God, you, your sons and daughters, your menservants and maidservants…” (Deuteronomy 12:10-12) (more…)
By Dr. Andy Woods.. Because the contemporary evangelical world is engulfed in the idea that the church is presently experiencing the messianic kingdom, we began a series of studies chronicling what the Bible teaches concerning this important issue of the kingdom. After distinguishing the universal kingdom from the theocratic kingdom, we observed that the notion of a coming messianic kingdom begins as early as Genesis One. (more…)
