The lessons of the Arab summit

editor 10 April 2017

By Zalman Shoval.. During the 28th Arab League summit in Jordan that ended over the weekend (March 29, 2017), host King Abdullah of Jordan said that there would be no regional stability without solving the Palestinian issue, defining Israel as an obstacle to peace. While the king probably knows better than many others what the real reasons for regional instability are, mostly as they affect his own country, at the end of the day the “Arab League” is not particularly significant, nor does it wield executive authority, for better or worse. Why Isn’t There a Palestinian State?

editor 5 April 2017

By David Brog.. Why don’t the Palestinians have their own country? Is it the fault of Israel? Of the Palestinians? Of both parties? David Brog, Executive Director of the Maccabee Task Force, shares the surprising answers.  If Israel just gave in to the Arab demands, what would happen? We know exactly what would happen. How? Why Don’t Supporters of Palestinians Care About PA Abuses?

editor 3 April 2017

By Mitchell Bard..On college campuses and beyond, support for the Palestinians has been portrayed as a human rights campaign. While the antisemitic BDS movement is — according to its founders and leaders — a crusade to make Israel disappear, it has attracted many naïve supporters who believe ostracizing Israel will somehow help the Palestinians achieve independence. BDS has been an unmitigated failure, but it has shielded the Palestinian Authority (PA) and Hamas from criticism for their human rights abuses. (more…)

A Palestinian National Unity Government?

editor 28 January 2017

By Yoni Ben Menachem.. This week (week 3, 2017) representatives of all the Palestinian factions concluded a three-day meeting hosted by a Russian research center in Moscow. The meeting explored ways to end the disputes and the rift between the West Bank and Gaza and reach a national reconciliation.

Also taking part in the conference was Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. According to Palestinian sources, he told the participants that the ongoing rift damages the Palestinian issue and that the international community exploits the situation to pressure and extort the Palestinians. Palestine Rage: Abbas Aide Says If Donald Trump Moves Embassy To Jerusalem It Will Cause All-Out War…..

editor 12 January 2017

By Lance Goodall.. If President-elect Donald Trump makes good on his promise to move the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem, it would be considered “a declaration of war” on all Muslims, the Palestinian Authority’s supreme Sharia judge Mahmoud Al-Habbash [pictured ] declared on Friday (January 6, 2017). This is exactly what we have been telling our readers for a year now. The Palestinians claim Jerusalem as their capital, a ridiculous assertion, and will fight to the death if President Trump recognizes Jerusalem as belonging to the Jews, which it rightfully does. At Fatah congress, Rajoub — and Abbas — walk away with big wins

editor 9 December 2016

By Avi Issacharoff.. In pulling off conference without a hitch and sidelining rival Dahlan, PA president has good reason to be pleased… for now. The Palestinian news agencies on Sunday (December 4, 2016) published the first results in the Fatah Central Committee elections for key positions in the political party. Coming in first place was Marwan Barghouti, held in Israeli prison for murder after orchestrating deadly terror attacks during the Second Intifada, followed by Jibril Rajoub (Photo top right), the head of the Palestinian Football Association (PFA). For months, Rajoub has been seen as the most popular personality in Fatah, after Bargouhti, of course, and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. (more…)

The UN’s Palestine Language

editor 3 December 2016

By A.J. Caschetta.. For decades, UN agencies have slandered the Jewish state, most recently with the April 2016 accusation that it has been “planting Jewish fake graves” in Palestinian territory, and with UNESCO declaring last year (2015) that the ancient Jewish Biblical sites Rachel’s Tomb and the Cave of the Patriarchs are actually Muslim holy sites, and last month (October 2016) that the Temple Mount, where the Jewish Temples were destroyed in 587 BCE and 70 CE, is an Islamic site with no connection to Judaism. Palestinians: When Fatah Becomes the Problem

editor 12 November 2016

By Khaled Abu Toameh.. The upcoming conference coincides with mounting tensions in Fatah, the result of internal bickering and growing discontent with Abbas’s autocratic rule. Since its founding 50-some-odd years ago, the secular Fatah faction and its leaders have brought nothing but disaster, not only to Palestinians, but to other Arabs as well. [Photo top right: All indications are that Mahmoud Abbas (right) is hoping to take advantage of the upcoming Fatah conference to rid himself once and for all of Mohamed Dahlan (left) and his other rivals in Fatah. As I See It: Israel, not the West, stands for international law

editor 7 November 2016

By Melanie Phillips..  The West maintains that Israel occupies Palestinian territory in the “West Bank.” This is untrue. There has never been any “Palestinian territory.” After the death of Shimon Peres, BBC radio’s flagship current affairs show Today interviewed Israel’s ambassador to the UK, Mark Regev. The presenter persistently suggested to him that Peres’s record as a peacemaker ran contrary to Israel’s subsequent record of failure to make peace with the Palestinians, and that the absence of a two-state solution was all the fault of Benjamin Netanyahu. PLO Official says he is concerned Israel will prevent international peace conference

editor 2 November 2016

By Adam Rasgon.. The last round of peace talks between Israeli and Palestinian leaderships collapsed in April 2014. Ahmad Majdalani top adviser to PA President Mahmoud Abbas, said on Sunday (October 30, 2016) that the Palestinian Authority leadership still hopes to participate in an international peace conference in Paris before the end of the year but fears that Israel will prevent it from taking place.
