After Temple Mount ‘Victory,’ Arabs Set Sights on Western Wall

editor 17 August 2017

By Andrew Friedman.. Palestinians and Arab MKs declared ‘victory’ Tuesday (July 25, 2017) as Israel reversed security measures at the Temple Mount, and said their struggle for control over the compound also extends to the Western Wall. MK Taleb Abu Arar (Joint List) stressed that “Jews have no rights at al-Aqsa Mosque,” and added that Muslims’ fight against Israel would continue, regardless of the cabinet decision to remove metal detectors from the entrances to the Temple Mount compound. Why Israel Has Never Been Defeated in War

editor 25 July 2017

By Paula R. Stern.. Wow, sometimes I come to write a post and start with the title, and look what comes out…
Yes, I could delete it but I won’t because even though it wasn’t what I expected to write…don’t ask me to explain that one…it fits. This is a video that a friend just shared with me (thank you, George)… (more…)

Who cares about Jewish unity?

editor 24 July 2017

By Caroline Glick.. There are four important aspects to the government’s decisions on Sunday (June 25, 2017) relating to egalitarian prayer at the Western Wall and the conversion bill. The first is that by and large, the headlines of the stories distort rather than explain what the government decided. The second is the nature of the American Jewish community’s response to the government’s moves. What Next For The Troubled Holy Site At The Western Wall?

editor 28 June 2017

By Jeremy Sharon.. Taken superficially, it would appear that the haredi parties United Torah Judaism and Shas have truly got one over on the progressive Jewish movements. With the government decision Sunday (June 25, 2017) to indefinitely freeze the resolution that would have created a state-recognized egalitarian prayer area at the southern end of the Western Wall, the question arises: What’s next for this troubled holy site of ours? Temple Mount Geography Confounds NY Times

editor 17 May 2017

By Ira Stoll.. A New York Times news article about preparations for President Donald Trump’s visit to Jerusalem included this sentence about the Western Wall: “The wall lies underneath the Al Aqsa Mosque, or Temple Mount, which is one of the holiest sites in Islam.” This is inaccurate in at least two ways. editor 27 October 2016

By Adam Eliyahu Berkowitz.. “Three times in a year shall all thy males appear before Hashem thy God in the place which He shall choose; on the feast of unleavened bread, and on the Shavuot, and on the Sukkot.” Deuteronomy 16:16. In a powerful display of the glory that once was the Jewish Temple, tens of thousands of Jews gathered at the Western Wall, also known as the Kotel, in Jerusalem on Wednesday (October 19, 2016) to be blessed by hundreds of Kohanim (Jewish men from the priestly caste). The “Al-Aksa Is in Danger” Libel: The History of a Lie

editor 14 October 2016

By Nadav Shragai.. Palestinians often hear from their leaders that a Muslim holy site in Jerusalem, al-Aksa mosque, is in danger of collapse – and the Jews are to blame. Whether printed in cartoons, preached in mosques or taught in schools, the lie is accepted as common knowledge across the Arab world. Millions of Muslims accept it as truth. The message is clear: Jews seek to expel the Arabs from Jerusalem. This lie is nothing new. (more…)

Hamas Threatens Jordan

editor 17 June 2016

By Bassam Tawil.. The signs near the Al-Aqsa mosque were clear: “The cameras will be broken and the hands that hung them will be cut off.” Installing video cameras near the Al Aqsa mosque would be a painful thorn in the side of all the terrorist organizations. The immensely successful collaborations in the area — those with Jordan and Israel and Egypt and Israel — serve the security interests of all three countries, as well as the Palestinians who do not wish to be taken over by Islamic extremists even more brutal than the leaders we have now. And that is precisely why Palestinian elements, from the Palestinian Authority to Hamas, were determined to sabotage the project. (more…)

Grand Mufti condemns new Jewish egalitarian prayer section at Western Wall

editor 4 February 2016

By Khaled Abu Toameh.. In a press statement he released on Monday (February 1, 2016), Hussien [Photo top right: Mufti of Jerusalem, Mohammed Hussein Photo: AP] claimed that the prayer space adjacent to the Western Wall is “the property of the Islamic waqf that was taken by the Israeli occupation in 1967.” The Palestinian Authority denounced on Monday an Israeli decision to expand the Jewish prayer section of the Western Wall to accommodate non-Orthodox and mixed gender services, as a further attempt to change the status quo at the Temple Mount.
