They felt the need, in the light of the tremendous inroads of Hellenism, to protect the pure and true faith. Originally they were known as “The Chasidim” – The Pious. DUTCH LEGISLATORS VOTE TO BAN KOSHER SLAUGHTER

The Dutch parliament overwhelmingly voted to ban kosher slaughter in the country. The bill does not affect the import of kosher meat. However, importing meat will be a major financial burden for observant Jews, because of the high cost. (more…)

What is the Shema?

The Shema was the answer that Jesus gave the Pharisee when asked the question, “which is the greatest commandment in the law?” Jesus replied, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind” (Mt. 22:36-37). Is the Torah the same as the Ten Commandments?

Tzvi Marx… In his very last speech to his people Moses enjoins them: “set your heart to all the words (ha’devarim) wherefore I testify against you this day… to observe to do all the words of this Torah” (Deut. 32:46).
