Work Begins on New Jerusalem Light Rail Extension to Serve Jews and Arabs

editor 16 March 2018

By Nadav Shragai.. The new light rail line will run from Gilo on the southern side of the city, via the Hebrew University Givat Ram campus and will terminate on Mount Scopus. It will serve the Jewish population, as well as the Arab residents of Beit Safafa, Issawiya, and Wadi Joz. A French court rejected an appeal by a Palestinian group that claimed that the light rail project is in violation of international law. There is wide international interest in the project from European and Chinese companies seeking to operate the “Green Line” tender. Time for the US to walk away from the PLO

editor 12 February 2018

By Caroline Glick.. On Tuesday (January 30, 2018) in Bethlehem, the Palestinians demonstrated the choice the Americans now face in their dealings with Fatah – the supposedly moderate PLO faction that controls the Palestinian Authority and the PLO. President Donald Trump and his advisers can play by Fatah’s rules or they can walk away. On Tuesday a delegation of diplomats from the US Consulate in Jerusalem came to Bethlehem to participate in a meeting of the local chamber of commerce. When they arrived in the city, Fatah members attacked them. Their vehicles with diplomatic license plates were pelted with tomatoes and eggs by a mob of protesters calling out anti-American slogans. Palestinianism Is Over. Someone Please Tell The British

editor 25 January 2018

By Melanie Phillips.. Apparently insulted by repeated slights from Britain’s political class and populace, President Donald Trump has decided to cancel his proposed visit there. Desperate to rescue the all-important post-Brexit US trade deal that might now be in jeopardy, Prime Minister Theresa May is seeking to “clear the air” with the president at the World Economic Forum in Davos next week (23-26 January 2018 Davos-Klosters, Switzerland). Good luck with that one. [Photo top right: Pottery found in the City of David excavations | Photo credit Ferrel’s Travel Blog].  (more…)

A Historic Watershed That Shames Britain and Europe

editor 13 January 2018

By Melanie Phillips.. It’s a seismic event, a great decision and a historic watershed. This is where blackmail and intimidation are faced down. This is where appeasement ends. President Trump’s speech recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital has signaled that, for America, the century- long Arab attempt to destroy Israel’s legitimacy – the essence of the Middle East conflict – has failed. Trump was careful and subtle. He did not say all of Jerusalem was Israel’s capital. The US will support a two-state solution if Israel and the Arabs agree to it. (more…)

The British and European Perfidy

editor 22 December 2017

By Melanie Phillips.. Twenty-four hours after President Trump’s watershed speech recognising Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, there has been predictable Palestinian violence and equally predictable, almost unanimous condemnation from Western European leaders and the western left. What needs to be understood is that the former is symbiotically connected to the latter. As I said in my blog post yesterday, the Palestinians use violence in order to get a reaction that advances their agenda. (more…)
