Resolution 181: A “Green Light” for Jewish Statehood, but a ‘Dead’ Blueprint for Peace

editor 29 July 2017

By Eli E. Hertz.. In 1947 the British put the future of western Palestine into the hands of the United Nations, the successor organization to the League of Nations which had established the Mandate for Palestine. A UN Commission recommended partitioning what was left of the original Mandate – western Palestine, into two new states, one Jewish and one Arab.7Jerusalem and its surrounding villages were to be temporarily classified as an international zone belonging to neither polity. Arab League rejects Israel as Jewish state – So, who is the Arab League?

editor 15 July 2017

By Eli E. Hertz.. It is illuminating to examine the record of the League of Arab States since the founding of the League in 1945, which is hardly a model for peaceful settlement of disputes in the spirit of the United Nations. Prior to the establishment of the Jewish state, the League took the following steps: (more…)

Palestinians ‘Peoplehood’ Based on a Big Lie

editor 16 December 2016

By Eli E. Hertz.. The Palestinians claim that they are an ancient and indigenous people fails to stand up to historic scrutiny. Most Palestinian Arabs were newcomers to British Mandate Palestine. Until the 1967 Six-Day War made it expedient for Arabs to create a Palestinian peoplehood, local Arabs simply considered themselves part of the ‘great Arab nation’ or ‘southern Syrians.’ (more…)

Do Palestinians Deserve Statehood?

editor 10 November 2016

By Eli E. Hertz.. A case in point – In the eyes of the European Union, the quality of life of its citizens is much more sacred than the security and well being of Israelis. European yardsticks for Turkey, a peaceful country (sic, ed.), joining the EU – demand [of Turkey] far-reaching political and social reform “on the ground”, and 10 to 15 years of negotiations while Turks prove democratic change is “irreversible.” European yardsticks for Palestinians, a hostile society, joining the Family of Nations – amounts to praise for fabricated non-existent reforms and calls to drop the required incremental progress from the Road Map. 96th Anniversary of the San Remo Conference

editor 5 August 2016

“Granting the right under international law for Jews to settle anywhere in western Palestine – the area between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea.” On the 24-25 of April 2010, the European Coalition for Israel conducted a number of educational seminars delivered by Eli Hertz from the United States and Solomon Benzimra (zl) from Canada. It was followed by a ceremony held in San Remo at the same house (Villa Devanche) where the signing of the San Remo declaration took place in 1920. (more…)

World Leaders Ignore International Law – Inciting antisemitism and anti-Zionism

editor 2 August 2016

By Eli E. Hertz.. Ban Ki-moon, Condoleezza Rice, and Javier Solana became victims to the ‘Occupation’ mantra their own organization has repeated over and over in their propaganda campaign to legitimize the Arab position. The “Road Map” vision, as well as continuous pressure from the “Quartet” (U.S., the European Union, the UN and Russia) to surrender parts of the Land of Israel are contrary to international law that firmly call to “encourage … close settlement by Jews on the land, including State lands and waste lands not required for public purposes.” (more…)

Recognition of the Historical Connection to Palestine

editor 23 July 2016

By Eli E. Hertz.. Fifty-one member countries – the entire League of Nations – unanimously declared on July 24, 1922: “Whereas recognition has been given to the historical connection of the Jewish people with Palestine and to the grounds for reconstituting their national home in that country.” (more…)

Attention Friends – it’s Time to Accept the Truth – Jewish Settlement Legitimized Jewish rights to Palestine, Eretz Israel, were internationally guaranteed

editor 24 September 2015

By Eli E. Hertz.. In the first Report of the High Commissioner on the Administration of Palestine presented to the British Secretary of State for the Colonies, published in April 1925, the most senior official of the Mandate; Herbert Louis Samuel underscored how international guarantees for the existence of a Jewish National Home in Palestine were achieved: “The [Balfour] Declaration was endorsed at the time by several of the Allied Governments; (more…)

A Crazy state does not play by the rules

editor 20 April 2015

By Eli E. Hertz.. UPDATE: A Palestinian state has good chances of becoming a rogue state – the kind of polity the United States is currently grappling with Iran, Syria, Iraq, Libya, and elsewhere. In 1971 Hebrew University social scientist Professor Yehezkel Dror [Photo top right] wrote a short volume entitled Crazy States, solicited by the Rand Corporation. Decades before Mohmar Kaddafi began sending contraband by diplomatic pouch and Pol Pot “invented” the killing fields, envisioned the emergence of polities that don’t play by the rules’ and therefore seem crazy to westerners. UN Resolution 194 and the “Right of Return”

editor 18 December 2014

By Eli E. Hertz.. Resolution 194, adopted by the UN General Assembly on December 11, 1948, addressed a host of issues, but only one paragraph out of 15 dealt with refugees created by the conflict. Resolution 194 attempted to create the tools required to reach a truce in the region. It established a conciliation commission with representatives from the United States, France and Turkey to replace the UN mediator. The commission was charged with achieving “a final settlement of all questions between … governments and authorities concerned.” The Resolution’s “refugee clause” is not a standalone item, as the Arabs would have us think, nor does it pertain specifically to Palestinian Arab refugees.
