Bright Days and Dark Days

editor 21 April 2017

By Paula R. Stern.. For many in Israel, it has been a week of vacation, celebrating a holiday that starts off with a lot of work and then melts down to good food, good rest, good times with family. But interwoven in the good of the last week, there have been underlying elements of darkness that make me nervous. I’ve been watching the situation in North Korea and Syria. It takes so little to start a war, and so much to stop one and the people who suffer most are rarely those who press the Start button. (more…)

Why Don’t Supporters of Palestinians Care About PA Abuses?

editor 3 April 2017

By Mitchell Bard..On college campuses and beyond, support for the Palestinians has been portrayed as a human rights campaign. While the antisemitic BDS movement is — according to its founders and leaders — a crusade to make Israel disappear, it has attracted many naïve supporters who believe ostracizing Israel will somehow help the Palestinians achieve independence. BDS has been an unmitigated failure, but it has shielded the Palestinian Authority (PA) and Hamas from criticism for their human rights abuses. (more…)

‘I don’t agree with what Hitler did and I don’t agree with what Israel did in Gaza’

editor 26 November 2016

By JPOST.COM Staff, Herb Keinon.. In full interview with Israel’s Channel 2, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan speaks of Israel and Turkey’s reconciliation, the 2010 Mavi Marmara crisis and his relations with Hamas. Just a week after Israel and Turkey resumed full diplomatic ties by mutually naming new ambassadors, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan sounded anything but conciliatory in an interview aired Monday (November 21, 2016) in which he refused to back down from comments equating Israel’s actions in Gaza in 2014 with Nazi atrocities. Palestinians: When Fatah Becomes the Problem

editor 12 November 2016

By Khaled Abu Toameh.. The upcoming conference coincides with mounting tensions in Fatah, the result of internal bickering and growing discontent with Abbas’s autocratic rule. Since its founding 50-some-odd years ago, the secular Fatah faction and its leaders have brought nothing but disaster, not only to Palestinians, but to other Arabs as well. [Photo top right: All indications are that Mahmoud Abbas (right) is hoping to take advantage of the upcoming Fatah conference to rid himself once and for all of Mohamed Dahlan (left) and his other rivals in Fatah. Hamas Preparing for Next Round, Defence Minister Warns Knesset

editor 5 November 2016

By JNI Media.. “I am all peace; but when I speak, they are for war.” Psalms 120:7. “Hamas in Gaza has 26,000 soldiers and another 40,000 clerks who receive their salary from the Hamas. It is currently building up an attack force to try to move the fighting into Israeli territory in the next round, but it is also working to restrain various entities within the [Gaza] Strip, mainly due to the change in the Israeli response policy after every incident, which has become dramatically harsher,” Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman (Yisrael Beiteinu) on Monday (October 31, 2016) told the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee chaired by MK Avi Dichter. Lieberman: If Hamas forces war on us, it will be their last

editor 27 October 2016

By Elior Levy.. In the rare interview with Al-Quds newspaper, the Israeli defense minister outlined his thoughts on Palestinian statehood, a final peace agreement and Mahmoud Abbas; ‘if they make the decision to stop digging tunnels, smuggling arms and firing rockets at us, we will be the first investors in the rehabilitation of the Gaza Strip.’ Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman told a Palestinian newspaper in an interview published Monday that while Israel has no desire to return to Gaza or conquer it, “if they force a new war on us—it will be Hamas’ last because we will completely destroy them.” The interview with Al-Quds—the most popular Palestinian daily West Bank and east Jerusalem—sparked outrage on Palestinian social media. Palestinians: “The Mafia of Destruction”

editor 22 October 2016

By Khaled Abu Toameh.. Hamas and Palestinian Authority (PA) officials have turned medical care into a business that earns them hundreds of thousands of dollars per year. This corruption has enabled top officials in the West Bank and Gaza Strip to embezzle millions of shekels from the PA budget. (more…)

Europe’s “Good Terrorists”: Because They Might Destroy Israel?

editor 7 October 2016

By Khaled Abu Toameh.. Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri would like the Europeans to understand that they need not worry about terrorism by the Islamist movement because the attacks will be directed only against Israel. The European Court of Justice (EJC) is sending the message to Hamas that Europeans see no problem with Hamas’s desire to destroy Israel and continue to launch terrorist attacks against Jews. This message also undermines those Palestinians who still believe in a peace with Israel. (more…)
