Hague Criminal Court may open Israel war crimes probe, MKs reportedly told

Israel’s National Security Council reportedly warned members of the Knesset’s powerful Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee last week that the International Criminal Court could open an investigation at some point this year into the 2014 Gaza war and West Bank settlement construction. Colonel Amit Aviram (res), a senior member of the committee, submitted to the Knesset committee a secret presentation entitled, “Strategic Situation Assessment for 2018,” Channel 10 news reported Monday (January 8, 2018). After publishing a harshly-worded letter critical of the Israeli Defense Forces during the 2014 Gaza war, the prestigious British medical journal, the Lancet, shifted gears and dedicated its latest issue to Israel’s healthcare system. Professor Karl Skorecki, director of medical research and development at Rambam hospital in Haifa, commended the Lancet for its change of heart after the most recent edition was published on Monday (may 8, 2017). How I Lost My Family in the Last Gaza War

By Orian Morris.. In a way, the next war is always the previous war. The image of war is of assault and conquest of vast terrain. But in fact, war is always characterized by withdrawal. As can testify those who had fought. Not me. Because I’d rather tell the story of how I ran away from the last war to my parents, who received me with the disappointment appropriate for deserters, and why I won’t sign up for the next war, which is always also the previous one. Gadi Yarkoni lost his legs during protective edge – now became Mayor

By Israel Today Staff.. On the very last day of operation protective edge last summer, Gadi Yarkoni was badly hurt in a mortar attack and he lost both of his legs. But he didn’t give up. He continued fighting, for his recovery and health, and now for his beloved home. He was the economic coordinator of Kibbutz Nirim which is situated close to the Gaza border. (more…)

Israeli Watchdog Criticizes UN Gaza War Report for Sourcing From Non-Transparent NGOs

By Eliezer Sherman.. Several of the nongovernmental organizations that fed the United National Human Rights Council with information leading to its allegations of Israeli and Hamas war crimes during Operation Protective Edge last summer (2014) have shown a lack of financial accountability and therefore transparency, a prominent Israeli watchdog reported on Tuesday (June 23, 2015). Specifically, NGO Monitor indicated three NGOs that do not “publish financial information, reflecting a lack of transparency and accountability.” (more…)


WJC criticizes new UN report on Gaza for putting Israel on the same level as the terror group Hamas

By WJC.. World Jewish Congress CEO Robert Singer strongly criticized Monday’s (June 22, 2015) report by a United Nations inquiry commission into the 2014 Gaza conflict.  “It is most unfortunate that here is yet another UN Human Rights Council report that puts the democratic State of Israel and the terror group Hamas on the same level, that unfairly accuses Israel of deliberately killing civilians in Gaza and that fails to address Israel’s right under international law to defend its very existence against the threats coming from Gaza.” (more…)
