Time for the US to walk away from the PLO

editor 12 February 2018

By Caroline Glick.. On Tuesday (January 30, 2018) in Bethlehem, the Palestinians demonstrated the choice the Americans now face in their dealings with Fatah – the supposedly moderate PLO faction that controls the Palestinian Authority and the PLO. President Donald Trump and his advisers can play by Fatah’s rules or they can walk away. On Tuesday a delegation of diplomats from the US Consulate in Jerusalem came to Bethlehem to participate in a meeting of the local chamber of commerce. When they arrived in the city, Fatah members attacked them. Their vehicles with diplomatic license plates were pelted with tomatoes and eggs by a mob of protesters calling out anti-American slogans. Palestinian Blackmail: US Is Our Enemy

editor 30 January 2018

By Bassam Tawil.. The Palestinians’ mock trial and “execution” of Trump and Pence gives the Palestinians a green light to target Americans physically. More interesting still is that members of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’s ruling Fatah faction participated in the mock trial and “execution” of the US president and the Vice President. Strikingly, this event took place inside a refugee camp that is run by the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA). More precisely, the execution took place outside a school run by UNRWA. Trump and Pence were “hanged” with the UNRWA flag flying atop the school in the background. PA Government, PA TV, and Fatah all present a world without Israel

editor 24 November 2017

By Itamar Marcus and Nan Jacques Zilberdik.. The Palestinian Authority and Fatah continue to present to Palestinians an image of a world without Israel, using a map that erases Israel and replaces it with “Palestine.” This continues despite the PA and Fatah’s numerous assurances to American and European leaders that they recognise Israel and support a two-state solution. Here are three recent examples of the use of this map in which “Palestine” replaces all of Israel. (more…)

The day Palestine gave up

editor 22 November 2017

By Haviv Rettig Gur.. In last month’s (October 2017) reconciliation agreement, Abbas handed his legacy into Hamas’s keeping, and Hamas revealed that it is strong enough to drag its people to war, but not to freedom. On November 1 (2017), against all expectations, Hamas officials dismantled the checkpoints the organization maintained inside the Israeli-controlled crossings on the Israeli-Gazan border. It was a dramatic step. No longer would Palestinians leaving Gaza for Israel or the West Bank face questioning by Hamas intelligence officials about their business. No longer would Palestinians entering Gaza face the exorbitant import taxes and other fees imposed by Hamas. The West Takes Up Its Usual Position

editor 27 October 2017

By Melanie Phillips.. What is it about unconscionable agendas that sends the western head plunging ever deeper into the sand? Please join me here as I discuss with Avi Abelow of Israel Video Network the reaction to President Trump’s speech on the Iran deal, the new pact between Hamas and Fatah and Tony Blair’s latest contribution to the west’s incorrigible myopia. Watch the video below. (more…)

Proposed deal proves Hamas rule was a disaster for Palestinians

editor 24 October 2017

By Frida Ghitis.. In a brief ceremony held in Cairo last Thursday (October 12, 2017), Palestinian negotiators signed an agreement meant to bring an end to the bitter feud that has divided Hamas from the main Palestinian leadership. The leaders of Hamas and of the Palestinian Authority hailed the deal as the beginning of a new era, but much remains to be resolved, and the plan could unravel just as similar ones did in the past. Fatah-Hamas reconciliation: A fusion of evils…writes Isi Leibler

editor 21 October 2017

By Isi Leibler.. World leaders – including some of our American friends – are apparently still unwilling to face reality and continue to delude themselves that Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinian Authority can be induced to making a peace settlement if Israel continues to appease them and excuse their crimes. Preparing for the post-Abbas era

editor 5 September 2017

By Caroline Glick.. PLO chief and Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas scored a victory against Israel at the Temple Mount. But it was a Pyrrhic one. Days after the government bowed to his demand and voted to remove the metal detectors from the Temple Mount, Abbas checked into the hospital for tests. The 82-year-old dictator has heart disease and a series of other serious health issues. And he has refused to appoint a successor. (more…)

The Day of Deranged Inversion

editor 20 July 2017

By Melanie Phillips.. Fatah, headed by Palestinian Authority head Mahmoud Abbas, has called for a “day of rage” tomorrow (i.e. Thursday July 20, 2017). This is ostensibly to protest against the metal detectors which the Israeli government has installed at Temple Mount in Jerusalem. That was in response to last Sunday’s (July 16, 2017) attack there by two Israeli Arabs. Already armed, they burst from the compound and murdered two Israeli Druze police officers, leaving a third officer injured. (more…)

At Fatah congress, Rajoub — and Abbas — walk away with big wins

editor 9 December 2016

By Avi Issacharoff.. In pulling off conference without a hitch and sidelining rival Dahlan, PA president has good reason to be pleased… for now. The Palestinian news agencies on Sunday (December 4, 2016) published the first results in the Fatah Central Committee elections for key positions in the political party. Coming in first place was Marwan Barghouti, held in Israeli prison for murder after orchestrating deadly terror attacks during the Second Intifada, followed by Jibril Rajoub (Photo top right), the head of the Palestinian Football Association (PFA). For months, Rajoub has been seen as the most popular personality in Fatah, after Bargouhti, of course, and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. (more…)
