Locust swarm of biblical proportions plagues Egypt

By Israel Today Staff.. An estimated 30 million locusts are currently plaguing southern Cairo, as Egyptian official struggle to find a way to dispose of a swarm the size of which they could not have predicted.

Locusts swarm Egypt every year, but typically in manageable numbers. The size of this year’s swarm came as a complete surprise, and is reportedly causing enormous damage. (more…)

 

Nonie Darwish on how Arab children are taught to hate

By Israel Today Staff.. If any Arab has a reason to hate Israel and speak out regarding the Jewish state, it is Nonie Darwish, who grew up in Gaza and saw her father eliminated by Israeli forces for his role in terrorist activities.

But Darwish’s conversion to Christianity later in her life has resulted in nothing but love for the Jewish state, and a firm understanding that God has a plan for and is working through Israel. (more…)

 

Christians in the Gaza Strip: Mistreatment and Allegations of Forced Conversions

The situation of the tiny Christian community of the Gaza Strip, which reportedly (AP) comprises 1,500 members residing amongst 1.5 million Muslims, is precarious at best. Living in a territory ruled by Hamas, a Muslim fundamentalist terrorist organization, Christians are being subjected to mistreatment, while reports of forced conversions to Islam continue to surface. Britain’s Chief Rabbi Defends Christians

Tooley.. British Chief Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks visited with Pope Benedict XVI last month in Rome and defended Europe’s Judeo-Christian heritage, including the “religious roots of the market economy and of democratic capitalism.”   In a speech there, he urged that Jews and Christians to work together to “help Europe recover its soul.” (more…)

 

Arab spring, or Christian winter?

In 1991 I was the pastor of a church in east London at the outbreak of the first Gulf War, when the far right had threatened to attack British Muslims. Members of my congregation went unprompted to the local mosque and surrounded it, to protect it and the Muslims against any violent attacks.
