New Knesset Bible study group off to strong start

By Israel Today Staff.. We have already reported several times on Benjamin Netanyahu’s revival of the Prime Minister’s Bible Study group in Israel. Now the Knesset is getting in on the trend with the establishment of its own weekly sessions of scriptural enlightenment. The initiative came from one of the new Knesset parties, the centrist Yesh Atid, which fields both secular and religious lawmakers. (more…)

 

The Origin of Antichrist

By Dr. Tony Garland..  Q. I’ve often heard prophecy teachers say that in every generation Satan has someone that he is grooming for the possibility to become the Antichrist. However, today I was reading a piece on a Facebook page which states that “Satan will someday impregnate a Roman woman who will give birth to Satan’s seed who is going to be the Antichrist.” If this is true then would that not defeat this idea of Satan grooming [preparing] someone in every generation to take on that role? Is the Torah the same as the Ten Commandments?

Tzvi Marx… In his very last speech to his people Moses enjoins them: “set your heart to all the words (ha’devarim) wherefore I testify against you this day… to observe to do all the words of this Torah” (Deut. 32:46). In this same way as he began, he concludes his long discourses that constitute the book Deuteronomy, which in Hebrew is therefore called Devarim, or “words” (Deut. 1:1). (more…)

 

How do Jews read the Bible?

In the Ten Commandments God insists that: “Thou shall have not other gods before Me” because the Lord is a jealous God who “visits the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generation of them that hate me” (Ex. 20:3-5), By contrast another biblical teaching clarifies that “every person shall be put to death only for his own sin” but no child for the father’s nor a father for a child’s sin. (Deut. 24:16). How are these apparently contradictory descriptions of the divine behavior to be reconciled? (more…)
