South Africa: Compromise on labeling of settlement goods

The South African Jewish Board of Deputies (SAJBD) has welcomed new regulations by the government which soften previously envisaged language for labeling imported goods from Israeli West Bank settlements. The new rules would be consistent with a compromise reached last month following months of intensive lobbying by the SAJBD. According to a letter received earlier this week by Jewish umbrella body, products from Israeli settlements in the West Bank and eastern Jerusalem must be labeled as ‘West Bank: Israeli goods” or ‘East Jerusalem: Israeli goods’. Palestinian Arab Museum that “Rewrites” History Funded by the West (Video)

Palestinian Authority officials on Thursday (April 18, 2013) joined a ceremony to lay the cornerstone for a new museum of “Palestinian culture, history and society”  in Birzeit near Ramallah. “The museum will not only be for Palestinians but will reach out to the whole world through an advanced digital network,” project manager Omar al-Qattan said as ground was broken on the new venture. “It will be more than a traditional building with archaeological relics. We are looking at an institution that will transcend all boundaries — geographical and political,” he added. (more…)

 

Members of US Congress protest to Abbas about PA TV hate speech that PMW had exposed

By Itamar Marcus and Nan Jacques Zilberdik Palestinian Media Watch recently exposed the PA TV broadcast of a girl reciting a poem that referred to Jews as “enemies of Allah, descendants of pigs.” Three members of the US Congress, Doug Lamborn, Eliot L. ADL Slams Brooklyn Mezuzah Torching as “Blatant Act of Anti-Semitism”

The Anti-Defamation League has condemned an act of arson in Brooklyn as a hate crime after a dozen Jewish residents of a Brooklyn apartment building had their mezuzah scrolls set on fire. “This is a blatant act of anti-Semitism with a clear attempt to instill fear and intimidate the victims in their homes,” said Etzion Neuer, ADL Acting New York Regional Director.  “It is particularly disturbing that this horrific act of hate occurred on Holocaust Remembrance Day, a time in which we remember the heinous acts committed against the Jewish people.” (more…)

Senior Israeli Official: Deadline Needed for Militairy Action on Iran

Referring to the impact of Israeli air strikes on Gaza during November 2012′s Operation Pillar of Defense the BBC’s Wyre Davis wrote: “In the BBC Gaza office, that feeling was most tangibly felt on the first day of this conflict when Omar, the 11-month-old son of our cameraman Jihad Misharawi, was killed when a missile hit his home.
