Analysis: In Private, Palestinian Leadership Opposes Gaza Protests

editor 14 April 2018

By Adam Rasgon.. Despite the Palestinian leadership’s public expressions of solidarity with thousands of Gazan protesters, it privately stands in opposition to the ongoing demonstrations. The Ramallah-based Palestinian leadership has taken a public stance in support of Palestinians who have been protesting for more than two weeks on the Gazan side of the border between Israel and the Gaza Strip. Checkmating the smart Abbas

editor 31 March 2018

By Caroline Glick.. PLO chief and Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas is no idiot. He didn’t survive as Yasser Arafat’s deputy for 40 years and as his successor for 14 by being stupid. So if he isn’t stupid, why is he attacking the United States? Why did he deliver an anti-American diatribe Monday night (March 19, 2018) that would have made Ho Chi Minh proud? Not only did Abbas call US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman a “son of a dog.” He blamed the US for all the woes of the Arab world. (more…)

Arab Leaders Pressure Mahmoud Abbas

editor 22 March 2018

By Yoni Ben Menachem.. Egypt and Saudi Arabia are putting mounting pressure on the chairman of the Palestinian Authority to accept President Donald Trump’s “deal of the century.” Senior Fatah sources reckon that Mahmoud Abbas will not compromise on Palestinian “red lines,” and when he retires from political life he will be known as the leader who did not succumb to pressure to accept the American offer. Nikki Haley to Top Palestinian Negotiator: I Will Not Shut Up

editor 26 February 2018

By Michael Wilner.. “I assure you that [the current] path will get the Palestinian people exactly nowhere toward the achievement of their aspirations.” United States Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley had strong words for top Palestinian Negotiator Saeb Erekat on Monday (February 19, 2018): “I will not shut up.” Her remarks, made at a meeting of the UN Security Council in New York, were a firm response to comments made by Erekat earlier this month, in which he called her “impudent” and told her to “shut up” regarding her criticisms of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. Abbas travels to Moscow in bid to circumvent US as main Mideast peace brokers

editor 20 February 2018

By JNS.. Abbas sees Russia as an emerging power in the Middle East, and hopes that Russia together with other international powers can serve as brokers of an arrangement that will deliver a Palestinian state. Palestinian Authority president Mahmoud Abbas traveled Russia on Monday (February 12, 2018), in an attempt to boost the standing of the Palestinian Authority and gain backing for a Palestinian state from Russian President Vladimir Putin, in the wake of deteriorating relations between Palestinians and the current U.S. administration. Time for the US to walk away from the PLO

editor 12 February 2018

By Caroline Glick.. On Tuesday (January 30, 2018) in Bethlehem, the Palestinians demonstrated the choice the Americans now face in their dealings with Fatah – the supposedly moderate PLO faction that controls the Palestinian Authority and the PLO. President Donald Trump and his advisers can play by Fatah’s rules or they can walk away. On Tuesday a delegation of diplomats from the US Consulate in Jerusalem came to Bethlehem to participate in a meeting of the local chamber of commerce. When they arrived in the city, Fatah members attacked them. Their vehicles with diplomatic license plates were pelted with tomatoes and eggs by a mob of protesters calling out anti-American slogans. Palestinians: The Atrocities No One Talks About

editor 8 February 2018

By Khaled Abu Toameh.. Why the need to keep reminding the world of the plight of the Palestinians in Syria? It is because the international community and pro-Palestinian groups around the world do not seem to care about the atrocities that are being committed against Palestinians in Syria or any Arab country because they were not committed by Israel. The 82-year-old Mahmoud Abbas, meanwhile, has made clear where his priorities stand. Instead of searching for ways to help his people in Syria and the Gaza Strip, where hospitals are facing a deathly shortage of fuel and medicine, Abbas has just spent $50 million to purchase a “presidential plane.” [Photo top right: The Yarmouk Palestinian refugee camp in Syria has been under siege by the Syrian army for more than 1,660 days. Palestinian Blackmail: US Is Our Enemy

editor 30 January 2018

By Bassam Tawil.. The Palestinians’ mock trial and “execution” of Trump and Pence gives the Palestinians a green light to target Americans physically. More interesting still is that members of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’s ruling Fatah faction participated in the mock trial and “execution” of the US president and the Vice President. Strikingly, this event took place inside a refugee camp that is run by the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA). More precisely, the execution took place outside a school run by UNRWA. Trump and Pence were “hanged” with the UNRWA flag flying atop the school in the background. Time for Trump to cut the cord on the Palestinians 01/19/2018

editor 27 January 2018

By Caroline Glick.. For decades, Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas has been touted by American leaders as a moderate man of peace. U.S. leaders from George W. Bush to Barack Obama, and from Condoleezza Rice to John Kerry, all insisted that Abbas is the Palestinian leader who will make an historic deal with Israel. President Donald Trump has met three times with Abbas since taking office. On Sunday night (January 14, 2018), Abbas showed them what he really thinks. He cursed Trump saying that the U.S. President’s “house should be destroyed.” (more…)
