Let’s continue with Abraham and his times…

BABYLON. What does: ‘Babylon’ stand for in the Bible? First of all, it is of course a city on the lower course of the Euphrates and the Tigris. Babylon is the Greek name for the Hebrew Babel (= ‘Gate of the gods’ or ‘Confusion’) in the land of Shinar that the Babylonians themselves liked to call Sumer (and Akkad) – the Sumerians living in the south and the Akkadians in the north. Babel (Babylon) lies in Babylonia, a part of Mesopotamia, the ‘fertile crescent’ with the two great rivers, the Euphrates and the Tigris, and the little river Jordan that supplied the region of Israel with water. The city was already mentioned in the 23th century before Christ. (more…)

“… The LORD had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you…” (Genesis 12:1-3)

These are very well known words of Scripture – so well known that you would think that there is no longer anything new to be discovered in them. Something new did suddenly come to my mind, however. (more…)

Church and Israel. Does God still has a plan with Israel? Abrahamic covenant still stands. God has a number of covenants with Israel. How can God have a series of covenants? How can these covenant relate to each other. Does the new covenant replaces all the old covenants?

Grace has not replaced the covenants with the Jewish people

The Churches have gone theological wrong when it comes to Israel. The new testament hasn’t replaced the old testament. Christ did not come to abolish the Jewish people. Grace has not replaced the covenants with the Jewish people.
