By Rev Willem J.J. Glashouwer.. Who is really responsible for the death of Jesus? That’s you, that’s me, our sins brought Him on the cross. And He says: “Nobody murders me”. This is why I have come into this world. To give my life out of my own free will.” Praise God He did! To set the whole world free. But to shove it into the shoes of the Jews is demonic. And one day the Lord will hold the world responsible for this type of preaching! The question the disciples have for Jesus is: “what will be the sign of your coming?” How do we know that You will come again? What is the sign of Your coming and of the end of the age? What is meant by age? When will it come? When will this terrible phase of world history finally be over? With all the wars and the cruelties and the famines and the tsunamis? When will it finally be over? And when will the next phase of world history start? The phase of Your Kingdom? When will You come in Glory? When will the peace flow forth from Jerusalem and from the Temple and cover the world? How do we know? How can we read the signs of the times? Rev Willem J.J. Glashouwer explains about what Jesus then said. One of the largest speeches that we have of Jesus. He describes an order of events of all signs of the times. That finally ends with His coming in Glory. And He predicts bad weather coming! Wars, rumors of wars, lawlessness, persecutions and killing, love fading out of mankind almost. He sees Jerusalem in the distant future. He sees something standing in the Holy Place. He doesn’t say Temple. He says Holy Place. And He says what will be standing there will be an abomination that causes desolation. And then He says then will follow a time of distress that the world has never seen and will never see again. Among all these pretty negative signs there are two positive signs. They asked Him how do we know that you will come in Glory again? What will bring this phase of world history to an end? And when will the next phase of the Kingdom begin? Many pastors, priests and Christians have no idea what is happening. But the powers of darkness know exactly what is happening. They know their Bibles pretty well. This and many more questions are explained by Rev Willem J.J. Glashouwer in this episode (7-10) of Biblical reflections on Israel.
