Who are the Arabs kidding?

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is under growing  pressure from the US to resume negotiations. His latest comments, published in Al-Ghad, a Jordanian newspaper, hinted at some flexibility. Just as well, since Israel Prime Minister Netanyahu insists on talks without conditions.

However, Abbas’ latest precondition proposal to agree to have direct talks with Israel are that Israel has to withdraw and return to the 1967 borders, and Israel must accept an international foreign border force. He said the Israelis need to recognize these propositions as acceptable, in principle.

“If they agree, we will consider that progress … and this would prompt us to go to direct negotiations,” Abbas said.

Who are the Arabs kidding?

Since the Second Lebanon War in 2006 we have been witnessing what does it mean to have an international peace force the UN placed in Lebanon.  They allowed Hezbollah to rearm and become ten times stronger, ready to attack Israel any moment!

No concession made thus far have yielded one day of peace.  The real moment when peace will come is when every Israeli is assured that he or she has no fear they would be killed by an Arab. Thus far, the Arabs have not shown one sign they really want peace. Not one sign!
